I said zinc coated, not plated.
Both materials you describe are zinc deposition systems.
Geomet - Passivated zinc and aluminium flakes in a binder, patented chemistry
Dacromet - zinc and aluminum flake in an inorganic binder
effectively, still zinc coated.

: My wishbones, hub carriers and some brackets are away being blasted and zinc plated so these shims are being done at the same time

My winter project is plating the arms etc. Can you give me an idea of the cost to get them blasted and plated: My wishbones, hub carriers and some brackets are away being blasted and zinc plated so these shims are being done at the same time

nearest place to me is charging £80 for the blasting and £60 for the zinc plating. That's dearer than I've seen on some posts on here but I am getting a few more things done at the same time (21 items in total)

So to make this right. Take it apart. Clean the surfaces on the subframe and the Alu chassi. Duralack both sides of the shim and only the shim not the subframe not the chassi. Bolt it together with som new M12×60 screws and before duralack is dried. Then try to seal it from the outside. Are the screws std Hex head and 8.8 quality? Any risk the duralack Will remove the friction? Br,Per
What I've done so far:
cleaned the subframe mating surfaces
Cleaned the chassis mating surfaces and brass brushed the pits etc
Blasted and zinc plated the existing shims as they are not available from Lotus
ordered the lotus bolts (A075W2070Z - M12x60, qty = 4) and 2x nuts
What I am about to do:
duralac both sides of the shims
when duralac is tack dry, fix subframe to chassis
torque bolts/nuts to 45nm
have a beer.
