yes I did map it myself, on the road with no det cans or proper afr logging(just looking at the wideband under throttle), its very roughly mapped at the moment and theres loads of driveability mapping that needs to be done, but i will get help with that with someone more experienced.
its fairly laggy setup as its not really designed around a stock engine, more the forged engine im building so 25psi+ and 8000rpm capacity, but since ive got a close ratio box it will allow me to keep it in boost on track.
I might turn the boost up a little more to help with the top end as the dyno guy said you need to set the cams and increase the boost if you want more power(dont actually know what the cams are set to, just that they dont touch the pistons!)
Fair play... if only I had the time and a more understanding girlfriend Admire your practical ability
You dont really need much time to learn how to map, im completely self taught from scratch, had no lessons for spoke to anyone, just jump in the car and make adjustments and then watch the wideband, that will teach you 50% of mapping straight away, its just simple maths and physics.
My partner isnt in to cars and I dont have alot of free time, its just making sure you allocate a little bit of time each week to work on the car, you dont get alot done but over the weeks that time adds up.
why are you still considering doing a public session at a ta event to test your car??it is comparible to going for a day out with a sunshine bus load
just come to croft will you
All depends, im making some carbon fibre wing uprights today, if they come out of the mould alright then I might well go, im not looking for lap times, more just to feel the car on the track again and get the scruits to have a quick look at it.
Will you stop going on about croft, i will get there eventually, I might be getting made redundant in the next couple of weeks so dont have loads of money I can spare with 2 young children and a house.
Cheers buddy, always look to yourself for inspiration, if you dont actual try things out yourself rather than following the herd then nothing would ever get done.
If it proves to be reliable then its an option for us lotus guys who want 230bhp+ but dont want to have to pay £10k for a honda conversion.
