And ask Scuffers to pop down and have a look/play with it. I am sure he would be able to direct you to some quick wins and if willing take you out for a lap and show you what it really is capable of. Just take several sets of spare pants.

What sort of lap times were you seeing at Oulton?

It's at snet 300 so you can turn the boost up and play with the stage 4 tubbies! It does really show how much potential the car has, considering you have next to no driving experience on track in the car. Get a proper lap timer though, performance box etc

Well on the first ever lap last year at snetterton 300 I did a 2.13 with 3 mistakes and next lap was a 2.11 then I had a problem with the car so couldnt run it probably the rest of the day(hard lesson learnt there) so I would be aiming for a 2.05 if possible, with access to full power

for some reason at work I cant multi quote

mangham54 - scuffers isn't a fan of my car at all so he wont be jumping into it I don't think

SteveA - did a few laps driving around with 50% throttle to work out which way the track went, then first ever flying lap 1.40.3, 2nd lap was 1.38.2 before red flag came out, it then rained heavy in the afternoon and didn't want to take the car out in those conditions, braking way to early and pretty slow in the corners on those 2 dry laps so 1.33 is my target, this is on the island circuit

With a better external GPS? Otherwise it's useless.

Ooo Jamie and scuffers would not be happy if you took that record! So go for it dude!!!

why?

it's not a particularly fast time, it was the first time Jamie had driven his car in that configuration.

Realistically, in the same spec, there's at least another 5-6 sec's time in there if not more.

consider the same car did Snett 300 in a 1:57 (with me in it), I would suggest that's a better benchmark.

you were running the seq box at this point, if so around 370bhp flywheel power and 750kg?

obviously your a massively better pro driver than I will ever be but if im going to try and chip away at your time at snetterton it would be nice to know what im up against, ill never beat it, but with time it would be nice see how close I can get.

Probably the biggest jump in time would be if I throw randy in the car to be honest

Lotus cup car is 2.02 around snetterton, so maybe that's more of a realistic target long term as at 260whp they are more similar in terms of power output and drivetrain

add another 100Kg's to that + me.

Jamie's car is far from light.

Im sure Jamie said his car was 825kg with the compound charging so I assumed it would be a fair bit lighter than that without the turbo and the extra cooling capacity required for that, or have I got the wrong information there?

if it was 850kg I suppose at least I have  a lighter car on my side which cant hurt, would that have made his compound spec around 900kg?

Time to be more ambitious.. Cliff's old VX managed a 2:03 and that was with map sensor issues...

Scuffers, do you on have a database of vx/elise lap times with weight/specs against each that you could share? It would be interesting to get an idea of what a good lap time is at various circuits around the UK.

N8t really, no. Most of the time it's from mst's website archives. The trick is to know who's cars to look at.

was that in testing or at a track day as the fastest ive found for cliffs car was 2:07.4 from looking through TSL timing when they last ran the 300 circuit which was september 2012
