Hmm, that doesn't look good!
Did it happen on a trackday?

I wouldn't want to salvage anything from that except the crashbox if that's undamaged. At least I won't have to keep reading the pointless thread anymore. You would have gone quicker with a bolt standard track based car & some tuition.

Anyone else surprised that almost all of the photos from this thread have disappeared.

I feel sorry for the OP... and hope he can bounce back... it is a real shame what has happened. Not sure what this "I told you so" stuff is all about... I admire anybody that is motivated enough to teach themselves, give stuff a go and learn by their mistakes... this forum is a rich wealth of information and I love .org and anybody who contributes, but sometimes the contradictory advice and strongly stated but not strongly founded opinions can be a challenge to cut through.
Not knocking anybody in what I say... just trying to be balanced and cut the OP some slack at a time which much be pretty f*cking difficult.

People like to know 'they were right' don't they, and the internet brings out the absolute bellend in some people.

Indeed. I understand he was already beating Mike's best lap time by 2 seconds and had more to come (that's without circa £15k of Elise Parts). Anyone who can push the barriers forward should be applauded, without these people like Lee (the OP) we'd still be in the stone age. It's virtually impossible to get everything right on such a vast project, just look at Lotus themselves when they evolved, fires, deaths and mayhem. Simply pushing the Chapman ethos and Rackham design further would make them smile I am sure.People like to know 'they were right' don't they, and the internet brings out the absolute bellend in some people.I feel sorry for the OP... and hope he can bounce back... it is a real shame what has happened. Indeed, that should put most of the doubters back in their boxes.Beating Mike by 2 seconds is quite an achievement. Is there any data knocking about?

Why shoud it? One instance where he's gone 2 seconds faster in the easy going atmosphere of a trackday where other cars are told to get out of the way of faster cars. When he's done it lap in lap out, meeting after meeting in a competition atmosphere thats when I'll be put in my box.
My fastest lap at Brands GP would put me midfield in Lotus Cup UK, I dont think for one minute if I was allowed to race in Lotus Cup UK in my car I'd finish anywhere near midfield. You havent got a clue what you're talking about.

I will let the facts speak for themselves. The guy made great lap time, had terrible misfortune, lost his car and now is in a pit of misery. Can't you put aside your semantics and even show bit of compassion? Why shoud it? If someone went and got a rusty old morris minor, bolted Chinese copies of a front and rear end from a GP2 car, put them on with screws and cable ties. Then tried to drive it fast round a track full of other people, would they be pushing the boundaries and need to be applauded or is that dangerous?

In the US they even have a competition with those specific.

If we are going to talk facts, there is no great lap time. With all due, the car was a deathtrap waiting to happen, several people tried to suggest he was no so blassay about several parts of it, he chose to ignore it all. Having had a car catch fire, it's no laughing matter...I will let the facts speak for themselves. The guy made great lap time, had terrible misfortune, lost his car and now is in a pit of misery. You're right, the facts do speak for themselves!!! He made one reasonable lap time, not great. He didnt have terrible misfortune, he was a victim of his own stubborness and stupidity and all that happened was his own fault. I'm a very compassionate person, for those that earn it. I have no compassion for someone who was advised by people who knew what they were talking about that the car was dangerous and was an accident waiting to happen but chose not only to ignore them but in some cases abuse them by telling them to fcuk off. I do have compassion for the people that spent money and lost a lot of track time whilst this pratts car was being put out. I have compassion for the marshalls who had to put themselves at risk once it was on fire and I would have had compassion for other race car drivers that would have been on track at the same time as his deathtrap of a car had it ever competed.
