It is ashame to see so much work go down the drain! Have to learn from mistakes and sort that exhaust exit out to stop it catching fire. I’m assuming that’s what caused it? I’m putting so much heat shielding in mine to prevent any form of fire and a plumbed in fire extinguisher just to be safe
oil line split, nothing to do with the exhaust and it had a fia 4.25ltr plumbed in fire extinguisher

I see! That does suck then! Take it was just the oil caught fire then?
yes, steel braided outlet from the oil filter housing got cut and sprayed oil upwards onto the exhaust manifold

So how come the extinguisher didnt work? Ive heard the nozzles melted? Doesnt seem worthy of FIA approval if thats the case.
thats what i thought, i assumed every part would be suitable for the heat of the fire, so i didnt understand why it wasnt working, it was only after talking to malcolm at MSAR about it that he confirmed it to me, makes the foam come out like toothpaste, which is exactly what i had recorded on my phone showing it

👍It will be a fire suppression system which is primarily there to slow the fire down to allow you to escape.

The bolt holding the alternator backed out from heat/vibration and the alternator dropped cutting the pipe.
We live on still

an alternator falling off the engine and landing on the oil line did it

have you changed the mounting of the alternator? as standard its held in place with 2 M10 shanked bolts with 15mm nuts...
the alternator is also right at the bottom of the engine, so you must of run the oil lines underneath it, but if your saying that the alternator "fell off" it points to 2 things, 1.. you didn't bolt the alternator on properly or 2, didn't fit the braided hoses correctly into the fittings and it pulled it out..and for the latter to happen you HAVE to of used the cheap push fit fittings which should never be used.. ever!

the top bolt backed out, i have since changed the setup and added an additional nyloc to ensure it cant back out in the future.
The oil filter housing sits directly below the alternator, and everything has AN fittings and none had come out, just simply split , i dont use push lock fittings.
anyway car is alive, is lighter and makes more power than before
