Hi, I thought it was overpriced as it still requires spraying but I wondered if the previous owner was a member of this site and could have told me any thing about the mode ect.

I've just looked at your car, it looks great but just a bit beyond my budget though .
Can I ask what kind of performance does adding the supercharger give you?
Thanks Mick

Can anyone tell me if Vauxhall made a 2.2 red top engine and if they did why was it better.
Any help would be appreciated as I'd like a car soon before the wife finds a use for MY garage.
Mick
the only red top vauxhall engine is the extremely old and extremely heavy 1990's cast iron lump
The car in your link simply has a painted cam cover with a different metal badge added, which probably adds 50bhp of course

It transforms the car from a sportscar into supercar performance.
Goes from 0-100kph in 5.9 to 4.6 to get an impression.
Conversions costs by Courtenay are about 5.5K pounds. http://www.courtenay...s/info_102.html
Joe and Lee (members here) can do a conversion using a used SC for about 3.5 K
The previously linked black NA for 5.5K has been repaired by a respected member here. (who is even an admin here)
She and her hubby have been breaking down vx's for years for parts. Obviously this one was to good to break.
Especially with pre damaged cars you need to be extra carefull. If anything nasty has happened to the chassis, it's transformed from a nice repaired car, into scrap value.

If you can stretch to the price jonnyboy's SC is a great buy. You could sell off a few of its gucci parts to recoup a bit of cash - 4pots, grille etc.

Thanks for all the help I got on the forum , I'm now the proud owner of a 2.2NA which I bought from covert ops of this forum.
Could some one direct me to where I can find out about upgrading as it came with lots done already and some parts not fitted such as a 2.4 inlet manifold and throttle body , I need to know if they are worth fitting.
Any help would be appreciated Mickz

one of the mintest vx220's I have seen, especially considering the mileage, a well looked after car
Both chain kits have been replaced with genuine parts too, think it also has the balancer delete and new clutch, but cannot remember exactly

Lots written up, I suggest you take some time to search through the site to digest what's already been discussed.
From my perspective, if you're after more power the best approach is to do it in one hit with a supercharger conversion rather than mess about with larger manifolds and throttle bodies, as they'll give little gain and have to come off to fit the supercharger anyway.
