Great photos Bob.

I'm very jealous, I'd love to go on a trip like this.

Thanks guys :) To be honest most of the holiday was in a 4 star all inclusive resort. Two different safaris. First one picked up at 5 in the morning and returned to hotel at 7 in the evening. That was a long day. That was to tsavo East. The other was a three day two night in the masai mara. That was something that just has to be experienced. The other trip was to a coral reef for Snorkeling.

Looks ace bob. Would love to do safari at some stage in my life. The grainy pic or the rhino at dusk is why I always recommend ppl buy larger sensors cameras these days (or back illuminated if you can't buy a bigger sensor). So annoying coming back from a really memorable holiday like this and the one shot you get of a rare beast like a rhino is spoilt by a cameras low light performance. Other than that bit bad for a compact bob!

I used to think the same when I had a SLR camera. But the carting everything around was a pain in the behind. And faffing changing lenses. But with the compact by and large it's good for most situations. I've got some decent close ups. And they are pretty good for quick shots (although there were a few times I was cursing the bloody thing). The TZ40 is supposed to be quick, which is another reason why I wanted it.

I'd definitely recommend safari in the masai mara. Not the sort of thing you do everyday :)

Yes agreed on SLR... That's where either CSC or even large sensor compacts are so great. Same size ish as a travel zoom but either 1 inch or APS-C (SLR size) size sensor. There's even a compact with a full frame sensor now! (It is 2500 quid tho lol). When I'm older and less poor hopefully yes bob!
