So while enduring this enforced period of sick leave, it's not stopping me planning or indeed shopping for shiny car bits.

 

Plans for the interior include some sort of retrim, including changing the seats for those with harness holes etc. So what options are there for the VX220 seat wise?

 

The way I see it theres;

 

Standard seats with harness holes, possibly professionally retrimmed.

 

Tillet

 

JK

 

Corbeau

 

Reverie

 

Composite Worx

 

Used Lotus seats (Exige, Probax etc)

 

Are there any others I've missed out there?

 

And anyone got any links or pics of any of the above fitted in the VX? (Have seen plenty of the JKs, both low and high sided)

Be wary of those that are entirely composite with bolt through fittings.  There have been a number of breakages which is not ideal in a crash situation!  The good ones have metal load spreaders in the laminate (look at your OE ones, you'll see where they are) which are often sacrificed to save weight.  These are important!

The non carbon ones flex quite badly and just cant see them holding up in a crash, if i pulled on them hard enough i recon i could break them. You can mount on standard subframes but they sit quite high so custom ones are probably needed. If i ever change the seats again id go straight for probax, straight fit, strong, look amazing, comfy, can move the seat.. Just the best option imo.

This is all true of the original JKs

They have new ones that are supposed to resolve all/most of the above, don't know exactly though, think Zoobeef got a set?

Think some have Cobra brand seats.

Sure Probax'ss's's's's are comfy etc but they sure as hell arent worth the price they command

 

Really really rate the tillet B5's, even for fat fuckers like myself

Another vote for B5's. Did not buy them without trying lots of others and never regreted it.

Keep in mind probax is just the padding guys.

Mostly used by lotus special edition motorsport seats.

Dave The Trimmer may also be able to add probax to his lotus motorsport shell seats.

(DDT´s come including rails, and are a straight swap. When you sell the vx, put the oem´s back in and sell the kitt)

i have a set of tillet r500 in my 7, they come up quite cheap and would fit in the vx check the blat chat forum 

 

very comfy more so than standard vx seats and i happen to make padded inserts also for them if needed

What are the ones Cliffie has in his car? There was comfy but I prefer to be sat up slightly more

Lotus Probax in grey alcantara in mine. Some pictures on my link in sig. Alot more comfortable on long journeys than the standard seats.

Are the dtt exige style seats 1600? And if so what do you get for that I.e custom colour choice, leather/alacantara?

VXR style seats are £1,500+VAT from DTT at the mo, with what could be a considerable lead time.

 

I thought you'd have been looking seriously at the Composite Worx seats in Carbon and Kevlar Aimy?
