I'm skinny so the lotus probax and cup seat are useless for me, I personally find them no better than standard seats for support.

If your serious about tracking the car, and not bothered about having 2 matching seats or your centre console I think you'll go along way to find something better than a Recaro Apex or profi spg for comfort and support. For me it's one of the best mods I've done. You literally sit on the floor very noticeably lower than standard as the lotus brackets were designed perfectly for the car.

As above its horses for courses though!

You need to be thin though!!! And not too short either as they don't go that far forward!

Yeah my car will be a mix of road an track use, so poof though it sounds I want them to be semi functional and still look pretty.

The above might be effective, but it doesn't fit that brief unfortunately. Harnesses are nice though :D

Elliot's seat is fantastic. thumbsup just a shame you can't fit two in. And its true that Exige/211 probax seats don't add much in the way of support. They do look great though.

I'm going to go for a re-trim of the standard seats

What are the ones Cliffie has in his car? There was comfy but I prefer to be sat up slightly more

I have Tillet B5 and they are adjustable Aimy so you can sit more upright.

Been thinking long and hard about this option myself, as its potentially the most cost effective but I'm not convinced that they look a bit weird with the harness holes squeezed into their backrests.

Do you really need harnesses though?

I'd 'like' harnesses for track use to be honest. I nearly did it with the tubby, had the bar etc but decided that it was as much road car as a track car. Now I want to use the new one on circuits far more, so harnesses make sense. Will likely retain regular belts for road use I think, though not entirely decided on that yet.

Having previously had a track car that we ran on regular seats and belts, then with sports seats and harnesses the difference was huge on track.

I had Elise seats in my old SC car. No harness cut outs (look gash) as the head of the seat was narrow enough for a harness set (just). These can be got for £200-250 and then have a retrim in whatever takes your fancy. You'll sell the NA seats for £200 if you market them well on eBay. I had a Mazda mx5 owner buy mine. The runners from the Elise fit the VX fine and lower the seat acouple of inches. Seats hug you more around the shoulder area and hips.

Standard seats with harness cutouts only look stupid because we use the universal plastic cutout inserts, which aren't meant for these seats and don't fit properly but are a cheap bodge to avoid retrimming. If you're getting the seats fully retrimmed, don't bother with them and get the retrimmer to cut harness holes and do the job properly themselves. Think that's the approach Frogman took on his retrims.

You could be right there Matt.

Anyone got any pics of retrimmed VX220 seats with harness holes but without the damn universal plastic inserts?

Two that I can think of where ChazUwe's old NA and pretty sure RichyRoff's seats were done by Frogman as well.
