I am just surprised that the split lines have opened up like they have, I havent noticed it on any other tyres I have had.

My 595s have a few split marks, before i bought them i came across this issue and after a lot of reading/talking to customers and people in the know i felt comfortable enough to buy a set.

Yes they've split, but i've done track days, long stints on motorways/autobahns with no issues at all.

Having been on track with Captain Vimes on RSR's and seeing Sizeten at it,  I am now buying a set. My 888's werent at there best but even so, the Rsr's heated up well and you could feel how sticky they were compared with 888's (we did a side by side test) and they without doubt worked very well yesterday. It was a cold day and it could be that they would heat up faster than 888's (though thats not what others have thought) but from what I've now seen definitely worth a go.

Now what sizes is it to be and wheres the best place to get them.

235 40 17  and 205 40 17?

Camskill were by far the cheapest when i bought mine.

I'm on 16/17s so can't really help with sizes, but i did stick with a 225 on the rear as standard.

Again some proof, that theres nothing fundamentally wrong with the federals. My main concern on track would be when theyre new as they have a lot deeper tread than 888's to start with. Guess I'll just have to wear them donw as fast as possible!

My brother in law designs tyres for Avon, so can ask him about the tyre split marks if anyone's interested?
