Composite Worx Seats Group Buy

So looking to make the new car's interior feel a bit more special, and one simple way is to change the seats. I want to use harnesses on track, and currently not sold on simply modifying the standard seats for this, and have been looking at other possibilities as per this thread;

One of the options is the Composite Worx seats. After seeing Lee's a few months ago I made contact with CW to see what sort of prices they could do and whether they'd be interested in a group buy offering. The good news is they would be happy to run a group buy for us here in the UK, and the base prices (before any discount) are
Sp-1 single skin ( carbon -carbon kevlar same price ): 499 euro each
Sp-1 twin skin, carbon or carbon kevlar ( you can combine carbon or kevlar on front and rear ): 649 euro each
black suede cover, red stitches : 89 euro each
lotus fitting kit with hardware : 40 euro each
dress-up kit (any color) : 19 euro each
In terms of discount, it's a tentative discussion at the moment though they have already indicated that
2-5 pairs of seats gets 10% off
6-10 pairs gets 15% off
and 10+ gets 20% off.
Now I'm aware that these seats are not cheap, and that it's nearly Christmas - which for many is the most expensive and financially stretching times of the year - so I'm not expecting much. I'm certainly not expecting to end up with 10+ people interested in a pair of seats, but I suppose you do never know.

Did you see these Graeme. Much better looking upholstery than they used to have.
Yeah I did Matt, and was slightly tempted. Still not exactly 'exquisite' though are they, and I'd find it hard to resist some DTT retrimming. At which point they become expensive.

They look lovely but I'm still torn between these/reverie and the lotus seats.... Doesn't narrow it down much lol
For me the Reverie ones don't look as sexy, and they're more expensive as well - so its the CW in pole for me over these.
When you say Lotus seats, do you mean the Elise/Exige motosport style ones that the ikes of Hark have fitted?

I cant see how those sides are comfy.
You know what, I thought the same. But Lee tells me they're fine, and he's not exactly slim hipped.
Maybe you just need some of your own padding for these. In which case I'll be fine.

I think so.
ETA: In fact they must be. Molly had to drill the holes for the fixing bolts when he got his (now Lee's).

Yes they are bolt through. Are you telling me that's a bad thing? Something about crashing?

Well, the guy I used in Bedford re-did both seats completely (no fabric bolsters etc), in two colours of leather with matching door shoulder thingies and did the dash and binnacle in alcantara for £550. So mahoosively cheaper than DtT. Granted that was nearly 7 years ago, but on the bright side, it's still spot on with no bolster wear etc but wish I'd had the foresight to get him to stick harness holes in at the time.

Yes. In an accident the seats are more likely to break causing greater injury. I believe there have been a few JK breakages like this. The JK's I saw were fairly substantial around the mountings too so I'd be cautious on anything thinner regardless of material.

Because of the ongoing engine conversion I have only tried them in my car and not driven with them :
They look less comfy then they actually are. I don't feel the funny edge on the sides of the seats.
The good thing (for tall persons) is that you will be an inch lower in your car compared to the oem seats.
The seats look bloody sexy and are good quality!
Unfortunately there's also a few cons I ran into when I tried to fit them in my car.
The upper fixing points on the oem rail / frame. In my case holes were pre-drilled and did not align.
(holes are no longer pre-drilled if you buy a new set)
The oem upper fixing points are threaded holes in the seat on the edge of the back and the side. The CW fixations are bolt through, hens they must be more on the side than on the back to allow space to fit them. The different position causes the seat to lean more backwards. This might be the reason for the feeling of being lower in the car, but also made the back of the seat clash with the harness bar that is currently installed in my car.
Fixation of the seat and the harnesses to the frame are (combined in my case) with M10 (fine thread) special bolts. The bolts that are delivered with the seats are M8 allen bolts. I don't want to compromise safety, at the moment I'm trying to figure out a new fixation with M10.
It might well be that your harnesses are fixed different than mine and therefor less of an issue.
My conclusion is they're awsome looking and good quality, but not easy to fit.
