Always intended on making a thread for the progress of my VX but never got round to it until now, so it'll have to be a bit of a catch up!

 

I'd been browsing around for them for quite some time but there are certainly a few rough ones around! Anyway, Slades garage in Penn who deal with high end motors recieved this vehicle in PX for an Aston Martin Vantage, and decided to give it a go in the showroom - result! Some amazing cars to jaw-drop over whilst waiting (Aventador, 458, MP4-12 etc), well worth a visit if you ever pass!

 

Black, totally standard, FSH, immaculate paintwork, 21k miles.

 

I've had it since August now, swapping from Leon FR/GSXR600 combo, and it's certainly been a fantastic experience so far. It compares quite well to a sportsbike in the way it accelerates, which I like a lot.

 

Photo on day of collection, it was roof off mandate for the 2hr 30 drive back to Derbyshire!

I've a big interest in car detailing, so the VX gets a lot of attention from myself to make sure it's spotless and fresh. Last month I spent 2 days looking after the bodywork. Full detox, tar removal, iron removal, claying, before machine polishing the bodywork with the AutoBrite CorrectIt range, and given a coat of Bouncers Sherbet Fizz. The wheels have had the same treatment but protected by PlanetPolish WheelSealAndShine. It has come up fantastic if I do say so myself.

 



 



 



 

On the to do list:

[*]Replace front tyres
[*]Paint Calipers, Disc centres and lips black

I decided that I wasn't brave enough to use it through winter, so picked up an MG ZR 105 on the cheap. Unfortunately I keep spending bits here and there on it as everything is so cheap for them! I picked up some sideskirts painted brand new for £50 and a full alcantara interior for £80 as the drivers seat was wripped. I've also only yesterday purchased a set of part worn winter tyres so I'll be needing a second set of wheels.

I'm sure I looked at this one a year ago from an arrogant wannabe dealer near Tewkesbury, I really liked the black with biscuit! I just couldn't get past the dealer he was a total ass wipe!!!

Sounds like a similar experience to me as I bought my vx from an Aston Martin garage

Biscuit in any circumstance is not good. 

 

However externally it looks great

Car looks awesome but two days cleaning it when there are these two on the 'to do' list is a bit daft.  Get the suspension collars done; asap if they are cracked at all.  They're dangerous if theyre in a state.  The last thing I'd want to see is an 'I've crashed it' thread.

The car is off the road at the moment so it isn't being used whilst I get these bits done and the weather is poop.

I have the collars here and am waiting in today for the spring compressors to be delivered. I've even taken a strut off ready, which allowed me to also paint a caliper and hub black as the rusty unused surface stands out so much. Just 3 more to go!



Rear lights removed for resealing and cleaning inside, managed to get the first open so far.

The nearside engine mount appears to look fine, so it must be the offside that is wearing. At least I have an engine mount ready for when it does go.

Smoked side repeaters fitted, and the wheel bolts and locking wheel nuts have been swapped for black ones.

Car is back together, with the little addition of my MMG intake pipe from the forums group buy. Back lights are sealed up, leather has been treated and I even found £8.50 under the seats!

I actually plastidipped the pipework because I'd like to keep the OEM look.



Next step is front tyres. I have gone for the original Bridgestones which I ordered from TyreLeader. Should be here Mon/Tues

Recieved my carbon fibre centre rail from Mr Rickwoo today, thank you very much Thought I'd give it a bit of protection prior to fitting and remove the light swirling.. Couple of compounds followed by some quality wax and it was fitted. Before: After: And fitted:

Thanks Thought I'd take it for a 30 minute run after work this evening as the roads were dry. Click, click, click - battery flat! Now sat on my trickle charger that I picked up from the post office today. Forecast for rain tomorrow so no chance of that one..
