OK so my son has put AC on his laptop and we got it running with the driving force wheel/pedals over the weekend and big screen via HDMI. Runs well.

However, all he's interested in is downloading drifting mods and driving ridiculous drift cars. I managed to nerf him off for 30 mins and drove V6 Exige around Zandvoort for half an hour - initial impression really good. I couldn't persuade (bribe) him to leave the laptop at my house so this budget PC to run AC might have to be on the cards.

Can Anyone (mark?) give any more detail/help with this?

Hi Steve, this is what I setup for my friend Nick...

PC HP 8200 Elite Core i5 2400 3.1GHz Win 7 Pro Tower PC - 4GB/500GB

Fitted a XFX HD7750 1GB DDR5 Core Edition PCI-E 3.0 HDMI/DVI/VGA

Spotted a few of these on ebay for around £40-50 2nd hand.

If I was doing it again:

Would add a 240GB SSD drive to run windows 7 & AC
Find a faster graphics card..

but the HD7750 was hitting 60+ Frames

OR

Just something like

Then add something like

Commentated races.. Whatever next. Fame? Fortune?

I'm still gathering hardware together. The company I work for are selling off some kit so I have bought a Dell Optiplex i7 tower PC for £100, no HDD but comes with a Windows licence. It does have a free PCI-E x16 slot for a graphics card. So I've ordered a HDD, GTX 750 Ti and bigger PSU. Will build that up when all the parts arrive. All in the PC owes me £240.

I've also decided to buy a G27 wheel (£140) and sell the 2 Driving Force wheels my son has (should recoup £40 each for those). My son already has a GameRacer seat so I've just added a gear shift mount to that from OpenWheeler (£46).

So should be up & running crashing shortly..
