Not into driving games but I have been playing on a 144hz monitor and would highly recommend them. I didn't notice much difference at first but after trying 60hz again it was night and day. I expect 144hz would be a great advantage for driving sim.

You need a machine that can puff out >144fps though which mine can't on most new games.

i have a Asus PG278Q and i can agree 144hz is lovely, couple that with Gsync and its even more lovely.. but i tend to leave it in 120hz.

Bloody computers... Its taken hours and hours getting this f*****g PC up & running - installing windows onto it from a USB has been a nightmare. Finding ISO files, dicking about with BIOS settings.. And then drivers, blah. blah. Anyway, its running now. The PC is alright though - its a 3.4GHz i7 16GB and with the GTX 750 the benchmark thing on AC (with most settings on max, 1920x1080 60Hz) gave 55 FPS average. 26% CPU. Using the driving force wheel at the moment - should switch to the G27 over the weekend. Just been lapping Brands GP in the KTM crossbow - its utterly brilliant I have to admit (I'm crap though). I only ever did any computer game driving stuff with GT6 on PS3 with my son - AC is in another league - as you all know.

Well done Steve, your hard work isn't in vain. Get yourself set up on Teamspeak and we can then talk you through any queries you have.

Chris - I'll lookup Teamspeak.

Got the G27 setup today. Been practicing with the Escort RS1600 at Brands GP. I saw online that some folk are doing 1:43 to 1:41 lap times. Jeez I can only just manage 1:50-1:52 with one 1:49 lap. And masses of offs & crashes. Its addictive though.

Like the race videos.

You want teamspeak3, its free. Once you've got it downloaded you need Chris's server details for when you run through the setup wizard. Chris takes a tenner a year to cover the Teamspeak server costs, probably less the more that use it. That Escort is a fantastic car, actually we did a race just recently around BH n the Escort. One thing to know is that there are a lot of quick quick guys out there, frustratingly quick, ChrisR being one of them. However there's plenty of good racing at the back if the field.

Yeah I'll be at the back.. Just like real life. Do you guys use some sort of headset then, with this teamspeak? And if so how does that work with the game sound? Sorry for the newbie questions.

yep good question, I use a Bluetooth headset with built in mic. While driving I get the teamspeak chat through my headset and the car noise through my main speakers. It takes a little tweaking so that you don't get feedback but once setup it works well.

i use a propper headset when racing, the sound of the game and teamspeak comes out of the headphones and the mic is built it.. does it this way means that others will just hear my voice and not my game.

Well this is what I was thinking - but Sutol seems to manage to use loudspeakers for the game and avoiding feedback. When I get that far I'll try out the options. Probably 'borrow' my lad's gaming headset initially.

what's your Steam user name?

Microtan_65

However - the PC has no wifi in it yet so I'm not online when on AC. And in any case I need way more practice...

It's a case of balancing the mic level. I do have to turn down the volume of the speakers a tad to avoid it being picked up by the mic but not such that it detracts from the game.
