After buying a brand new 4-channel ABS unit from Baja1969 (Mike) last weekend that he'd never fitted I set about getting it fitted and 'coded' to the car.

Obvious choice around Northampton was Lotus Silverstone so took a drive up there this morning.  Despite initially appearing to be helpful, I didn't have that much confidence in them really knowing what needed to be done.  And even when we did get to discussing the use of their Tech2 equipment, they said I would have to wait until the New Year before they could look at it.

I then remembered Allon White Sports Cars in Cranfield who are a Morgan specialist but deal with a lot of Lotus.

Arrived at about 1pm in the middle of their lunch break but one of their technicians, Steve, was happy to interrupt his lunch for a chat.  Quickly established they had the kit and had 'coded' three or four other units for VXs.   Within 5 minutes I had whipped off the old unit and Steve had done the business with his Lotus Tech2 unit.

Its not really coding just re-setting the ABS light which comes on (and disables the ABS) when the new unit is bolted to the hydraulics part of the module.

And the cost?  Free!! (I know some have been charged up to £50 for having the 'coding' done by Lotus)

Great service from a local independent specialist.   chinky chinky

Sounds like a cracking deal to me Ken. Maidstone Sports cars were £25, which in itself felt reasonable against a then wall of specialists and dealers who said they just couldn't even do it.

So what's left of your car's standard bits now then?

The 4-channel ABS unit is a standard bit Graeme (for a VXR220).   :P
