I noticed Graham at one point says bugger the noise and that he'll tame it down for track. I would suggest you go in Techieboys car for a run. He kindly gave me lift back to the hotel at the National and it was a truly horrible experience (not because of Matt whos a jolly decent chap all round) but purely due to his exhaust system and being in his car is not something I'd want to do for more than a few miles.

I like a bit of noise but my car can be totally quiet when you want it to be and fairly rowdy when you don't. I cant really advise on what you need for 300 plus bhp though as combos seem to come together differently and I'm running a weird mix that involves a Thorney manifold, miltek cat and 2tubular 2.5 backbox and 250 bhp.

Bargis exhaust does sound right and I'm sure is well made, but you might want to ensure that the visible part of the pipes at the back are to your taste.

I think we're all getting a bit older and yes, I like my exhaust noise but I would like to choose. So a silent system 90% of the time and a hooligan for 10%.

I/We need an active exhaust flap. Open for BAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP! and close it for trundling past schools really quietly. Shhhhhh

Oh and Dave H + Bargi, thanks for the posts and feedback/information. Much appreciated.

I'll try and ping you a PM this week Dave, with a few more pertinent questions.

I would actually pay for that. thumbsup Seriously, If someone could design a system that incorporated a flap so I could drive Bedford (as an example) with losing a few HPs/Torques (due to increased back pressure I guess?) one day, then raucous hooliganism the next day I'd be very happy.

I think we all would no?

From memory I thought Fezz was looking at this at one point. But now everyone's getting increasingly impatient about him making some new light units. Pfffffft, screw the lights, lets have an active exhaust Tom :poke: :poke: :poke:

 90% = Tiguan / Q3

10% = Asbo VX.

I want mine quiet 100% of the time, i don't need a stupid flappy thing. I need someone that understands, ecotecs, superchargers, vxs and resonant frequencies.

No, no, no, I think straight through exhausts work (subjective) on front engined cars because you've got lots of pipework with it running to the back of the car.

On a VX with the engine to exhaust tip so short if you bypassed it you'll end up with a tractor.

Believe me that's what it sounded like when we just had the downpipe attached.

Someone already did the bypass on Turbo and it's awful here

Imagine how nasty it'd be on a SC

Where might I find such unicorn?

Z22SE with a SC def has a 3k-4k drone. Never noticed it much with the NA but when it was SC'd was much more prominent. Above and bellow that it's fine.

I'm not sure if it's on all SC'd cars, I have a theory it's related to the balancer shaft delete.

So a 3" system with a strong cat section, and a baffeled enforced backbox with 1 endtip closed inside.

Silent and strong enough to withstand 400 horsies.
