I have just finished designing a DIY Kit to protect our lovely VX220 paint work. The film is very strong, highly scratch resistant, very clear and glossy. It will come cut to shape to fit each part required and I will update the thread with full instructions on how to fit.

The kit will include ( please not the rear wheel arch highlighted in the picture will not be included in this kit but will be available later at added cost )

- Lower front clam

- Fog light covers

- lower bonnet lip

- Headlight covers

- Wing mirror arm

- Wing mirrors

The cost will be £110 + postage ( happy to post outside of the UK )

The current cost is based off drawing up and speccing out the costs. If anything drastic changes like I have made a huge calculation error then I will post here BUT as it stands I'm trying to bring the cost down a bit. I will aim to make the most cost efficient use of the material possible.

For anyone that does not want a whole kit I will put some prices up of each section individually, they will work out to be a bit more than buying the kit as unfortunately just cutting each piece on their own would result in wasted material.

In tradional .org fashion, add your name to a list and keep it updated, I will then copy it back to this post to be able to keep track of everyone who would like one.

I need to buy some more material to do the first full test on my car, this will be the end of Jan and I will then have them available by the end of Feb.

Any questions, please keep them in the thread. I am happy to talk via PM but if you have a question, the answer might also benefit others.

Very good point on the back of the front wheel arch. Ill get it measured today, if i can play tetris with the current cut design it might just fit on the same material so not add to costs. Ill have a check, if i can include it for the same price i will

Just to keep this up to date.

I have finished the cutting design and am going to get some more material today, if the weather holds up I will get it fitted and photos etc on Wednesday. If I can't get it done by then it will be the week commencing the 13th Jan as I'm away for a week.

Will this hold up against the sun etc? Just that I know some of these kits tend to yellow after time?

What about a piece on the sill in the front wheel arches where tyres throw up crap and chips the paint?

The company this comes from is a professional tint and paint protection film company. As a distributor they offer a 5 year warranty on the material and is quoted as being 'clearer and less orange peely' then ventureshield. I can testify it's clearer than others I have seen with a glossier finish. I've been to the warehouse and talked with a few of the staff who have used it, one had a BMW M3 which he said was wrapped over a year ago and it looked perfect, no peeling or colour distortion. This was also cut by hand with a blade so had some rough corners etc and still had no signs of coming off.

I can't really offer the 5 year warranty as I don't really know what I will be doing in 5 years time but will always help where I can.

What about a piece on the sill in the front wheel arches where tyres throw up crap and chips the paint?

This is being looked at to see if I can squeeze it into the same material as all the original mentioned pieces, If I can tetris the shapes around a bit then I will include it at the original price, if not I will either alter the cost of the kit or offer it as a seperate piece, that way it will give people the option.

I will put the price of the kit's plus each part to purchase indivudally so people don't have to have bits they don't need
