Could this help on a SC car as well?

I'll be running an OEM LSJ exhaust cam driven vacuum pump when my B207R finally goes in.

I'd bet you a can of peas it won't help the hard pedal syndrome. I had a Volvo OEM Hella vac pump running constantly around Spa and still got it. Drop the front left and rear right ABS sensor and job done.

I don't have a hard pedal problem, since moving to the Exige controller. I need to block the ends of the head and have the OEM vacuum pump and the OEM cam position sensor, so they'll go on. Be rude to just block the vacuum ports on the pump, so I'll use it.

Never had hard pedal probs either, the pump for me too is just a nice little extra, it's there why not try it, I like it.

Had a nice little drive out in it yesterday, Guisborough to Whitby via the A171 and back.

Car performed well in all respects, got used to the paddle clutch now and it's fine in traffic, the car is actually very linear and civilized if you can ignore the sounds coming from the turbo sucking, dumping, redirecting. This is fine if you are having a spirited drive but tiresome when cruising etc, sound proofing materials arrived yesterday too so should be sorted soon.

I have to be honest, when the weather is ok-ish instead of getting on with jobs I can't resist going out for a drive. Remember I had not driven the VX for 18 months, forgot about the smile it puts on your face :)

Topped the petrol tank up yesterday after a couple of drives just to see how the mpg was. This was with typical vx type driving, out over the moors passing through a few villages and the odd foot down moment. Result, 34.9 mpg.

Bet the 911 that got left behind was getting a lot less mpg lol. 51mpg should be easy on steady run, well it is in the elise tfsi conversion DG

I think he expected to show me what a "real" supercar can do.

what are you using to generate the VSS signal, is it still the original ecu , is the speedo / trip mileage all calibrated ?

Steve retained oem ecu in there for VSS, coolant reading, fan operation and diag port etc

The oem VAG ecu is a custom loom joined to the VX loom with new single plugs so 1 single loom as such and can be disconnected to remove engine if ever required etc. Removing all non used loom also (fair bit of weight!)

tfsi stuff uses the abs signal for most things including VSS but the box I use has the output signal for speed (based on VAG wheel / tyre combo) gets a bit full on but did look at poss using ECU tc and launch control etc but shed load of pain and no real way to confirm how well it would work on the VX220 layout

Fuel pump controller etc just part of the 1 loom

its nice to hear that on the tfsi you can run it much leaner in normal cruise . Neat solution you have with the plugs and loom.

On a practicality basis, would a TFSi transplant also work in the NA? Presume most of the data provided to the real 'stack' will be identical in nature to the 'fake stack'. I take it the engine mounting and so forth are just replaced, therefore mitigating any issues with the 2.0 v 2.2 differences? Pipe-dreaming away here...

Maybe engine bay space/size issues with the smaller NA engine bay.

Yup, looks a tight enough squeeze on the VXT bay to me

Fits in the n/a and wiring is different but not an issue. Mounts 100% the same. Only issue with n/a clam is the intake pipe final layout going to pax ear fouls the boot section. Either slight mod to boot section or it can live the drivers side with no clam mod but its a compromise I was not keen on DG

Dave H was kind enough to drag his scales out and get a weight on my car on Tuesday, so....

Before engine change, 20 litres of fuel, it was 916kg.

After, 30 litres of fuel it's 931kg.

Additions were charge cooler (17kg?) and 308mm front discs + AP 4pots.

Thanks for that Dave and getting that damn pump in!!!
