Could these guys maybe help you out if you can't find anyone to go with you?
http://www.psrautomo...otus-and-vx220/

Why PSR Aimy? The OP is in Kidderminister / West Midlands which makes PSR about 150 miles away! I would have thought you'd have recommended MMG.   ;)

http://www.mmgperformance.co.uk/

But even they are 75 - 80 miles away.

has anybody else on here ever owned this vx220? BN02 LCE? VIN:  w0l0ear972n003647

MOT check only goes back to 2010 :/

003647 isn't showing (as far as I can see) against anyone on here in the Build numbers list:

http://www.vx220.org...61#entry1345851

What did the MoT history show for Mileage in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013?

mot milage in 2010 was 3996 and then 2012 9987 and then 2013 11998

I'm  not far away but you could do with someone who knows a bit more about what to look for tbh.  I think I know where to look and could take some photos, but I wouldn't want you to buy it on my say so.  There's a few folks around here that know alot more than me though, hopefully one of them might chime in.

Thanks, lets hope there is someone… I'm waiting to try and see if the history turns up today as they may still have it somewhere, got a guy at vauxhall also looking into it.

I know a garage on Cannock and there's also a place in wolves. Both look at vx220s. When you view it will you be able to jack it up and remove the wheels??

The VX was sold via a limited set of dealers, and that same set of dealers had their engineers trained to maintain the vx, and actually know it (and know what to look for)

Sorry thought these guys was closer than MMG to where the Vx is. Yes I would highly recommend MMG but I also wasn't sure if he would come out to have a look at the Vx with him working for himself I.e having to leave the workshop?

Just remember try not to let the heart rule the head :) Let us know what you decide :)

Really, I mean really... How many mods have been head not heart decisions? Sorry if I seem to keep picking on you recently, but there is a remarkable irony in these posts. Not that I have any right to comment.

All that carbon stick on stuff is definitely heart not head!

I agree with aimy.

Buying a vehicle that is completely unknown to you is a risk. It is easy to get carried away when all excited and buy the wrong car.  Modding is totally unrelated. You are changing something you own and know. There is no risk.

come on guys and gals, there must be someone wihin a 30-40 mile/minute radius to help this young man..

..failing that take up HArks offer, and Hark do as I do, as I know bugger all as well, take photos and send/show them at the time whilst ont he phone to more knowledgeable forum members lik(coco, vocky, cliffie, matt etc etc)..the owner/dealer will/may show his true side by either accepting there is a/has been a problem , get arsey, or positively proof that it is a good buy

Also been thinking, perhaps you uncles friend realise that there is a problem hence the £4k drop from original asking price for a numby...who doesnt ask

HH...wish I was closer to assist

I would love to come and help (45 miles away), but I wouldn't really know what to look for as i'm still relatively new to VX ownership and wouldn't want you to buy it based on my opinion

If it comes to it and there isn't anybody nearby able to look over it with you then your next best bet would be taking plenty of photos yourself and we can look over them and give you a better indication and ask for certain shots/angels if needed.

As said there is usually a reason something is cheap, however you do get the odd time that it's a genuine bargain.

His price to me is 6000... the 10k tag is from the dealer so its all the dealers profit i would imagine! taking into consideration he is going to get knocked down i suppose. :/ Looking like the photo option is the only way to go... hoping the history is there this week. Happy new year to you all by the way :)

Ok so I've just found out its been sitting in a yellow container unit for most of its life...

until the owner purchased it! and used it as his road car (NOT GARAGED)!

lack of history is due to the fact that its only had one service at 10000 miles :/

The owner brought this VX220 and a VXT at the same time as an INVESTMENT and is now getting a divorce so selling his toys! (poor guy)

He has recently had a Larani exhaust installed on the car swell as a hardtop.

Ooft, not a YELLOW container as opposed to a garage!? By the sounds if it, it's still a good one Stored for ages then used regularly is better than used regularly and stored for ages. Go for it, worth a punt at that money to be honest. Might need some spent on it, might not.

If its a non cat car it must be worth a punt, even if it turns out to be a damaged repaired car as long as there is no chassis or suspension damage you wouldn't of payed over the odds.

I would approach MMG and see if he would look at it with you. In return pay him his day rate or hourly rate with expenses payed and If you purchase do a deal with him to get it serviced and any other work that needs doing. It may well pay off.

I did this when looking at a landy. I took someone who works for himself and he had to leave his workshop. It worked out very well.

Id be quick as there are vultures on this here site always looking for bargins.

Had a long viewing today and a test drive!

WOW... know i know why your all so passionate about these cars!

Also checked and the car has had 4 new bridgestones on and it drove like a dream! the Larini exhaust sounds amazing!

Was very happy with the drive and noticed nothing that would make me think that it had anything wrong with it!

ABS light was on in the car! (could this be a big deal?) apart from that it seems fine!

Parking will take some getting used to!

Lots of us fit an ABS cut off switch under the bonnet because the fitted ABS is terrible. Maybe this one has it switched off.

Positive scenario:

The owner has diconnected one fo the wheel abs connectors on purpose, or even has put in a switch to disconnect the abs.

(some owners feel the car drives better with abs off)

Not so good scenario:

One of the abs sensor cables has snapped and needs repair. (easy)

Or if the wire part has snapped very close to the hub, the hub may need to be replaced. (not so easy, and more $$)

edit: bunsenburner beat me to it
