Thankfully they're bolted in (as per the championship regs) so I can extract and reuse. Some blocks need welding in for the feet so I'll get the support guys to fit it whilst they rebuild the engine for next year. Are the cages recoverable, or welded in in such a way you got to throw away the old one?

The winter built is definitely double edged - a real pain that my weekends have now been taken up but on the plus side at least I'm learning how it all works. The problem with the CL pads is that they really good right from cold, but once these are worn down I might consider something else. I hadn't actually noticed the failure when driving so maybe it wouldn't affect braking too badly during a race.Great write up! Sounds like excellent fun. It's a shame you've got to build up a new car but at least you can put what you've learnt into the new one. After having the cl pads fail, do you trust them enough to keep using them?

hope their customer service is superb!?!?!?!So it's not just VX cl pads that come away from the backing.

Is there any news of the springs and tyres yet? Same old story for me, too much going on, I am in the mountains in March and the September round clashes with the Revival. Should make the rest.

Test tyres are available. They will be marking the championship tyres differently in an attempt to prevent vast quantities of tyres being used by those with bigger budgets. 16 tyres is the maximum per car per season.
The springs are still not available - apparently they are still being manufactured. I'm secretly happy about that as my car is far from ready anyway.
Oulton and Croft will be two new circuits for me so looking forward to getting stuck into the 2015 season.

I think 16 tyres a year is laughable for a supposedly budget series. I bought six tyres in 2012 and they did me last year as well (yes, BOTH meetings )
The thought of buying a set of tyres that can only be used for testing is rather contrary to my outlook. I'll buy another six when the race tyres are available. If they won't last, I may have to shell out for another pair.
Oulton's a classic. You need a passport for Croft That clashes with the first (not quite a) national. Not sure what to do yet.
