Do a fuel learn. If the supplied map is running rich this will obviously put more demand on the injectors. Just to confirm the blue injectors are currently above 90% duty cycle?

Done a fuel learn. Fuel was about right at WOT and high rpm. Most of the adjustment was lower in the range. Max duty cycle is around 85%

85% is fine It's 90% where ecu loses control The 85% can go up and down with weather conditions and other temps with engine

Thanks all - I think it was just under 85%. I'll check it properly later.

On a seperate note - I phoned the insurance company today to inform them that I'd increased power from 150 to 250bhp by fitting a supercharger and remapping the ECU and the increase in premium was....... £55 :)

Eh? What? Speak up sonny!

chinky chinky

Which company is that with?

Greenlight: http://www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk/

I can add Trackday cover for £35 per day as well, which worked out cheaper than going for a policy with them included.

Cheers, I tried Greenlight last year for my Focus RS but they were a bit more expensive. I will check again this year though as will need specialist cover if I go the SC route.

One of the reasons I wanted to get the SC fitted for end July was because I'd booked up to join some friends on track at Brands Hatch. They've both done a season or two of racing before and were hiring the Bookatrack R300. From previous experience on track with them, while the NA was good it just didn't have the punch to keep up with the R300. This was especially an issue when catching slower cars as passing them was only really possible if they lifted off the throttle or I slingshot my way out of corners and hope they move over which took a few corners by which time the r300 was gone.

As you'll see in the video the SC made quite a difference to getting past slower traffic and hunting down the R300.

So... how much quicker is it round the lap..?? It's difficult to say as the day was too busy to get a clear lap and racechrono wasn't playing ball (gps trace showing me driving into the car park) but even dodging round cars I've spotted a couple of 56s laps where my previous best on a clear lap was 57s. So I'd hope for a low 55s with a clear run... Top speed on the straight was up 10-15mph from around 107mph to 120mph

There were a couple of issues I'd like to address and both heat related:

- First, the car was running hotter than I'd like. At one point after I'd stopped and switched it off, it decided to drop coolant out but was fine after that. I'm going to try and get more air in and around the engine bay, starting with adding a few extra NACA ducts in the under tray and see how I get on.

- Secondly, the suspension started suffering in the heat. A couple of times during the day at the end of a stint, the car started to vibrate quite violently as if I had a loose wheel. It seemed like it was coming from the near side rear. I'll start a separate thread on that but suspect that the damper was overheating...

Overall it was brilliant fun and the extra power adds to the experience. It obviously makes it quicker and much easier to get past slower traffic (which was a frustration before) but it also means I've got to learn the car all over again on track as the entry speeds are much higher so I need to make sure I'm not over braking and relying on the power to make up for low apex speeds. Which is great!

The chassis handles the extra horses very well - there's no sign of it becoming an overpowered monster, just a similar experience to the NA but with more go.

It is also a nice little sleeper now - it got quite a few comments on both it's pace and the noise for what looked like an unassuming little NA :-)

So...I'm going to add a couple of extra naca ducts to the under tray and found these on ebay: http://pages.ebay.co...5386444&alt=web Any thoughts on whether these will melt?

Why not get genuine ones from lotus? I don't think the price is much different and it will have the fittings to grip the tray.

Following Brands hatch, I added some vent holes under the car to get some of the heat out (see pics below). The temperature at Snetterton was absolutely fine (up to about 100 c on a long session) so hopefully that's that for now but if it struggles next summer on track then I'll add an additional oil cooler.

Correct, area of low pressure under the car pulls fresh air into the engine bay
