If your a hands on guy and like tinkering buy ODB Tuner first and then begin upgrading. The catch with going the CS mapping is you end spending more money changing out a stuff that potentially could be a problem (fuel pump) as its a PIA to get there and a second trip blows out the budget. Also during the build you then keep debating with yourself about uprating other stuff "just in case". If you're target is spending only what's needed get Peters software and change out other bits when needed.Your project description was pretty accurate I don't plan on other changes once the basic stage 2 is done (no one ever does right...) but there are two bits that really interest me for stage 2. The first is the ability to run the TMAP sensor - I want to be able to run long sessions on track without worrying about the engine. I'm just trying to figure out what would happen in the software when intake temps start to climb too high (i.e. 50 C) does it pull back the ignition? Would this also allow better fuelling for day to day running as the additional fuel isn't needed to cool the charge? Second is cold start... Is this much better with OBD tuner? P.S. Thanks for all the input. It's all appreciated! My jest on the project description may have come out a bit poor. Sorry.

I used a 25 row Mocal oil cooler and with Mocal rubber mounting bobbins it was a perfect fit. I think I paid about £50 for the rad off ebay.
My conversion cost less than £1500 - however I spent ages trawling ebay waiting for cheap parts to come up.

Thanks - I like that. Presumably you had to drill through the crash box to get the pipes out the top?
No - only the fixings on the bottom were drilled through the crash box - the pipe holes just went through the rad surround.

Quick update. Spent some time fitting the fanny exhaust today.
All started well at 11:30am. Old exhaust came off fairly easily with no issue undoing the downpipe from manifold and the lambda sensors came out easily too.
The fun started when I tried to get the lambda sensors out of the replacement downpipe that had the pre-cat removed. It now looks like this:
So I removed the pre-cat from my own downpipe which was in better condition anyway. Took about 1hr30 and was no fun at all but not as bad as I feared after reading what others had said about this job. There were a few casualties:
Standard exhaust and Regal next to each other shows that the regal box really is about as big as you can fit in the space. On the car, the cat and regal are squashed right next to each other:
It's still not all bolted up properly as I ran out of light but took a quick video to show before and after - it's no where near as loud as something like a VSE but has a nice burble on tick over:

You were right, I'm really pleased with the sound! Was going to give you a text but I only decided on Saturday morning to fit it and thought it would be a bit cheeky to ask with short notice. I'll definitely need help with the SC conversion :-)See its not that loud! also, I though you wanted a hand
No animals were harmed in the making of this movie!Hmm, is there a cat also in this Movie with regal exhaust? BR, Per

Right, a very quick update on this thread as I haven't done much...
Sold:-
- E36 M3 Steering Rack +£40
- HPI Nitro truck +£110 (more than I expected)
Unsold:-
- Toyota injectors & coil packs
Bought:-
- I won a set of z20leh injectors on eBay but they never turned up so I got a refund
I need to get a bit more pro-active on buying stuff but while the rain is pouring constantly there's little chance that I'd actually get on with fitting the bits so I'll take my time for now..
Most exciting of all, the charger turned up today. It looks pretty much as described:

Do you have a charger to manifold gasket? They're pretty expensive if you don't.
EDIT: just noticed the box at the rear. Don't mind me.

Nah, that one's no good. You need a MAP sensor from a Vauxhall 1.7 CDTI , the part number is somewhere on the forum. Put a bung in the charger sensor hole. Either the overpriced CS bungs or thread it and put a bolt in.

Have you checked which alternator you have? I was lucky and found a 100 A alternator as soon as I realised I had a 120 A one, but they're getting harder to find.

I have 4 spare sensors if you want one. They are quite expensive for no apparent reason...
