 I looked at that yesterday and wondered if it might do the job.

Ordered!

Thanks Fez!

Right, finally got round to driving the car after fitting the Dutch modified ECU. I think Peter added a base map that accounted for the current mods and it feels pretty good - better throttle response and more keen to rev. The Lambda reading was high at the last MOT which suggests that it may have been running a bit lean after fitting the exhaust and removing the pre-cat.

Anyway, tonight I managed to get the software working on the laptop, install the driver for the OBD2 thingy and got the car talking to the laptop. And then the fun bit...get a baseline power run on the current map...

It looks pretty good to me - the fuel maps need some work at part throttle but I'll figure that out over the weekend and run some mapping sessions to see what I can do...

So, here's the benchmark:

It will be interesting to see if the torque below 4000 rpm improves after a fuel learn and increasing ignition in that area.

So today I managed to get my head round the software a bit better and managed a fuel learn session (won't be doing that too often), played with the ignition and increased the rev limit to 6800 rpm.

I felt a bit of an ar$e using the same bit of road for power runs even though it was out in the 'sticks' so ventured onto some other back lanes and got some inconsistent results.

Anyway the results are:

- the long term fuel trims are now really low

- power is basically the same and advancing the ignition didn't really make much difference. Knock started to appear after adding 3.5 degrees so I just left it where it was.

Before and after below:

In my experience Peter is now using very refined base maps. Helped my friend supercharge his car about a month ago and we found the fuel trim was tiny.

Yep looks like the base map was very good. The long term fuel trims in an ideal world would be zero but not really achievable due to atmospheric conditions, so below +- 5 is good. I used to have +25 trims before the Dutch software. Looks like it was a hardware change that smoothed out the torque curve on mine unfortunately I don't know which one?

Ebay '100 amp' alternator turned up..... it's a 120 amp. What a PITA, I now need to sort out a refund and pay for return delivery. Back on the hunt for a 100 amp job- will try Autovaux at the weekend.

Fuel trims were around -5 on the base map but I only drove it for 30 minutes before the 1st power run. After the fuel learn they were close to 0 after 30 minutes driving but I'll check again at some point. On the plus side I feel pretty confident with the software and uploading/downloading from the ECU etc. It's a good bit of kit.

Car has had an oil and filter change plus a quick wash and put into hibernation under the car cover so it's ready for the national :-) Hopefully I'll pull it apart after the national and get the SC conversion going.

Did it say 100 on the plastic cap, but was the size of a 120?

Nope, it just said 120 amp on the cap. Just incorrect listing on eBay.

Just going through my list of parts needed. Am I right that I don't need an EGR cheater with the dutch software? I can just turn it off in the ECU right?

No egr cheater required for Dutch software, But you will need the blank plate

Had a spare 45 minutes this evening after work, so... whipped the EGR valve off, blank plate made up, EGR turned off in the dutch software. One step closer to SC...

Quick update.

I had a plan to add the 68mm TB on the 2.2 inlet to eek a bit more NA power out before going SC, so I pulled the TB off tonight to see how easy it would be.....the simple conclusion is not very.

It needs:

- TB loom extending (needs doing for SC - so not too much of an issue)

- inlet manifold removing and modifying

- Adaptor plate fabricating

- Ideally, the EGR pipe removing

- Intake pipe needs replacing with larger diameter

- Plus the brass pipe from the 68mm TB that's used in the SC conversion needs removing (I got nervous of this as I didn't want to damage it). Alternatively, I could just move the ECU which does need doing.

Decided I can't be bothered and will just jump to SC as the next step.

Now I'm in doors, there's a useful thread from Vocky that described exactly what needs doing here... https://z22se.co.uk/...ttle-body.2626/

Anyway, it gave me a chance to clean up the old TB which was disgusting after years of the EGR spitting rubbish all over it.

Here's a pic of the brass pipe issue:

I think the NA goes up to 65, not 68.

Don't cut off the brass thing, Once SC, you can connect the evap pipe (the one that goes to the piping near the fuel neck) to it for vacuum.

p.s. your header tank is quite full. That plastic lip in the middle is the indication marker.

I have got an adapter so the throttle will fit straight on but the inlet pipework will need to be changed. Interested?

Also you would select the 2.4l throttle from the drop down box not the 68mm SC option. This is because the setup is for SC not N/A where as the 2.4 setting will be much better. The brass part is just a push fit so can be removed but and a bung put in the hole. The brass fitting can the be replaced when you go SC.

The 68 also requires rewiring of the throttle connector plug.
