Just caught up on this thread - sorry to see the sad news above... but great to see the pole position! Shame about the final result on the weekend but it's looking promising for some great results this year! I'll be following with great interest and try and get along to a race this year!

Good show! - 2:18.950 is none too shabby....

Thank you  thumbsup That was Jez's in qualifying in only his 3rd ever race. The boy's got talent

not sure what to suggest your ultimate pace should be, looking at Elise Trophy times, the best can do a late 2:12 with about the same power you have but  less weight etc... (thinking 111R's here, and the fastest 111R is a guy that has years of experience).

I guess ultimately, I would be looking to get to half way between? so a ~2:15?

For comparison, in my NA I was running 2:23's fairly consistently with a passenger on board and roof off - I guess power to weight would be around 120bhp/tonne (1050kg, 125 wheel bhp?). I think Firthy on here was well into the 2:22's in his NA.

I was banging out 17's the other day in my old man's 1966 élan on cross ply tyres and 120@ the hubs... maybe I should enter it in a round!

If you're a novice like everyone else in it then why not

I didn't realise it was novice only.  What are your plans when you shed the cross, step up to LOTRDC?

The person who did a 2.18 was doing his second race, it wasnt me, I wasnt that quick!!! LOTRDC is out as a large part of it for me is racing the VX so personally I will stick to Team Trophy, CSCC, 750 Motor Club and the like. I raced at Oulton Park in TDT on Monday and came away with a second. Will be at Silverstone GP this Sunday in Team Trophy, may get a class podium but there's some serious cars there so a race podium probably wont be possible.

Such a shame what happened with the VX in Elise Trophy, would love to see your car out mixing it up and providing a bit of variety.  Its a shame for everyone really as the VX is a more robust start point for a race car than an S1.

If you make it out to any CSCC races let me know as I'll be at a fair few of them this year.  Don't think I've seen your car in the flesh yet, would be good to have a look.

Will you be at Silvertstone at all on Sat?  If you are then maybe we could grab 10mins to go through some track data?  No reason the VX shouldn't be quick on the GP track, just need to know how best to tie a lap together.

I think Mark is driving there on Sunday at Silverstone.  I am hoping to get over there if I can.

Perhaps the VX could get a guest invite to an LoTRDC round? Try and rebuild relations, given most of the issues were not car related as such.

I did a 2.17.1 yesterday :) I'll stick a video up soon.

Whilst the grids are so strong I think that's unlikely :-(

We tried to get in last year's 6 hour, we were racing on the same day anyway and would have done both, but we were turned down. I quite like pitting the vx against other cars. The clio cup driver who said 'it's only a vauxhall' wasn't saying it when we finished 8 places and over a lap in front of him!!!!

When you have been doing the racing thing for a bit I've found you come to the conclusion that its doesn't really matter what you're racing, its more about the '£ per fun' ratio.  The MSVR series look like a blinding place to learn the craft and represents really good value racing.  When you want to progress its hard with these cars as you're either into clubby stuff against saloons which should be an open goal, but you don't want to end up being a pot hunter, or GT stuff which gets expensive even in these light cars.  LOTRDC stuff is some of the best club racing going these days and its a logical progression and would help you learn but then there are some other really compelling series around for Caterhams, fun cup, radicals etc.  All that said, everybody has their own racing goals..

I'm 52 so I'm not going to have decades of racing ahead of me. TBH I'm just happy doing what I'm doing at the moment. The "£ per fun" ratio of the VX is good, it really hasnt cost that much compared to other competitive cars I see in TDT and TT especially

You only see the vx in the first ten minutes but, yes, we did get our first win and then a 9th and third in class in Team Trophy on Sunday. We used ZZRs instead of 888s for the first time and they were the difference I think
