That sucks :( I fear with the other driver being drunk their insurance may not be valid......

They normally still pay out for the 3rd party but do not cover the policyholder if under the influence.

What a shame. As said, you can clearly see the hinge/chassis damage.

Sadly, if that's chassis damage, then it's more than a bodywork repair and probably shouldn't be put back on the road. Has it gone to a specialist for assessment?

Glad you are otherwise ok. thumbsup

What insurer... part of your premium is for them to be a member of the motor insurance collective's uninisured drivers scheme. Therefore if you have evidence of the fault not being your own then, as I understand it, it is your insurers responsiblilty to reclaim their loss from that.

That sucks massively.

If it transpires you are up the spout with insurance let me know I'll sort something on the clam for you and maybe we can get some other bits together like the door if members can check their sheds?

Fingers crossed for you.

I assumed he'd just reversed into your car or something like that, If you've been hit side on enough to knock you out, I definitely wouldn't be wanting the car back, that's quite a shunt the chassis would have taken.

If he drove off, how do you know he was uninsured and drunk?

that really sucks. the worse nightmare for any car owner :(

hopefully things will turn out for the better dude. Keep your hopes high, damage does look pretty bad. I'd say it'd be a write-off, but hopefully you'll get a payout and can fix it that way.

The airbag went off...... That's one hell of an impact since the calibration was never changed from a corsa. Just ni cosmetics she be gone I'm afraid, and it would need very very very careful consideration for buy back and repair IMHO.

if it was a stolen car and you can identify the reg number then the insurance company will still pay for third party damages.

It will not be a cat b that, but you should get paid out no problem but don't take first offer, the insurance company's all pay into a none insurance pot so if some one hits your car and can't be found or don't have insurance they put a claim into this pot, it's a government scheme. It is repairable if you no the right person,

You can only claim from the MIB if you do not have comprehensive cover.

fcuking hell this situation sucks. I wouldn't want that back. Get yourself a decent payout and get a new one. Just hope the scumbag gets caught/what's coming to him.

Not sure if its the same with cars, but can't you put a claim in to the state for stuff like this?

A pal of mine was jumped on his way home from the pub. They beat him up and stole his phone/wallet, but left him with a nasty scar on his face. He got a couple of grand payout from the state.

I know this isn't entirely the same but it could be worth looking into?

Did you indentify the vehicle? If you did then the insurer will pay third party damages.
