Such a shame to see another VX end up like this, especially in these circumstances where it wasn't the drivers fault, I really hope the person responsible gets what they deserve whether that be from the law or from bad luck/karma.

@ OP - I know if this was me that I'd want the car back and to try and have it brought back to its former glory, it'd break my heart having to let my pride and joy go to the scrapyard. After reading (well, looking at the pictures mainly) the rest of this thread I think the best thing to do would be take the advice and not pursue trying to fix it, just concentrate your energy into fighting your insurers for a decent payout so that you can go and buy another one.

You could ofcourse get a buy back and then sell the bits that arent fcuked..... assuming it makes a profit.

Really hope this doesn't end up in the hands of some poor bastard, like the ripped chassis car, after a shoddy repair to cover the damage.

You should bring the damage to the insurers attention. Yes, you shouldn't have to...but it would be good practice to. That car is dead

If you can buy it back for £500 then sell the interior, a couple of wheels, a door, the engine etc. then you might be able to turn a profit off of it, but under no circumstances let this go back on the road.

Agree, by all means buy it back if there is a decent enough profit in it for you to break it, not to repair it though.

Lets face it, as it's "repairable" there's more chance of me getting 10k for my 84k miler '01 NA than there is of getting much change from £3k on buy back
