I'm sure I read somewhere on here of someone attempting to dye their soft top?

did it work?

what product did you use?

How does it affect the waterproofing?

I have a dark blue soft top, I know it's easier to swap with someone but the chances of someone wanting a dark blue soft top are slim, and mine has been re-sewn so isn't quite as neat as most.

Cheers

I used Renovo on my 'heavily' faded black top. Considering how faded it was it did a great job.

I bought some cheap softtop cleaner and some water proofer from Halfords and it came up very well. Almost looks like new now as before it was starting to look a little grey and had some dark and light patches on it. Done for less than 20 quid.

The roof isn't in bad condition, it's just the wrong colour lol

I've used Renovo before on a black roof and was happy with the results, just never tried to dye over blue to black.

It would be much easier to just swap the soft top i'm sure. A dark blue one must be fairly uncommon (never seen one myself in the flesh) and you say the chances of someone wanting to trade for a black one would be slim but we do have a fair few number of crazy coloured Vx's on the forum, im sure you can find atleast one person that wants to spice things up that little bit more.

Stick up a wanted/For sale thread, who knows you might find a queue of people wanting to trade (not me mind you :ninja: )

just find a local vehicle upholsterers and get it refubed with new black fabric. Black fabric is p*ss cheap.... almost cheaper than the renovation goo
