Depends on price and design. Personally I find 4.4kg a bit too light, but 5.5-5.8 is fine. Balanced off course...

:yeahthat:

Certainly not less than 5kg for me. Guess I should have read the whole thread before jumping in. :D

The one I got from CS last week weighs 4.5kg ish on my crappy scales

It's been a long time since mine got bolted onto the engine but that weight sounds familiar and your's looks identical.
It's far to niece to fit to the engine And has a lovely padded box

I'd be interested Matt - Needs to fit B207 with Z22SE crank. Going to need Clutch and Slave as well.

Hi Matt any news on this?

Also think a GB on Stage2 Clutch and Slave would be a good idea.

Just for those interested in the flywheels I spoke to Matt about this at the weekend, and he has confirmation from one supplier/manufacturer that these can be done, and is waiting for confirmation from another supplier/manufacturer to make a decision on which to go with.

Hope that helps some people still interested?

Provisionally interested in a Z22 one depending on price (I assume it will be equal or better to the TTV unit)

Matt, if this is still going ahead i'd like to change my interest to an 8 bolt one.

This is indeed going ahead. I spoke to Matt about this last night but got sidetracked by my plastic pig and forgot to remind him to send me the specs so I can sort the GB thread.

So, all I can tell you now is that Geary has the material and will be making them. Specs and price I will find out exactly but from memory they will be like the TTV ones sold by Courtenay but made of better material etc.

I've just sent MB a text for the specs/details and will update later today with a link to the group buy thread.

Yes, had confirmation yesterday actually.

They will be:

Made from EN24T

Induction hardened teeth

Balanced

Weight can be from 4.25kg - 5.75kg

They EN24T is the best material you can use for flywheels, a lot of aftermarket flywheels use EN8 or Chromoly (closer to EN24T). They really will be a hi-spec item.

We just need to finalize weight which is dependent on the most popular figure.

Price wise they will end up retailing at £225+vat each because of the spec.

If I get 8 orders then I can do them at £200+vat each.

If we get 10-12 I can do them at £190+vat each.

When you say weight can be from 4.25 to 5.75, what dictates that? It's quite a variation. What is the standard weight?

I'm guessing that the thickness dimension of the f/w is fixed , so remaining mass can only be added around the tower supports (outside rim) . I don't know the differences in mass of the original material (cast iron?) vs alloy.

The flywheel will have 'lightening' holes around the outside section. No holes drilled it will weigh about 5.75, lots of holes 4.5. I will try and get an image tomorrow.

Ok, so you "choose" what weight you'd like? Can someone tell me why one should order a 5.75 vs a 4.5 for example?
