Very good news indeed, staying positive and looking towards the future is a great tonic, and believe me, having been through the ops, radio and chemo, I can fully appreciate the personal suffering, and the worry on all of the family. May the good luck continue.

Good Afternoon Lee.

Fantastic news, it's a pleasure (and a privilege) to have you share in/with us your wonderful news. It's amazing isn't it how fragile life is and how so many of us (myself included) have a tendency to take that fragility for granted and give little thought toward the wonder of every single step taken and breath drawn through an average day. It takes something like this (your journey) to remind me of what a  miracle every little heart-beat is.

I am sure that you will see the proverbial 'glass' as not only being half full but half full of the most delicious alexia life can offer...hope.

I seldom feel either the need to or feel that i have the right to, pray and when i do so, they are not directed in the conventional sense. I have found myself praying for you/your 'situation' since reading your request for help and the frustrations at only being able to offer back so little is saddening, your most recent news is reward enough for all of us that have had you and your family in our hearts and thoughts...

..Congratulations my good friend. You all remain in my thoughts :grouphug:

So almost a year on from last updates, thought I'd better post an update. Some good, some bad. The good is that the tumour is still stable and has been for around 2.5yrs now, so long may that continue. The not so good is that Alex was admitted yesterday due to a sore patch around the wound site for the tumour resection. Yesterday was a bit of a rollercoaster! We were told to arrive asap, and to expect surgery as they suspected infection of some sort. So we arrived at 10:30, sat around til 3:30pm when she was admitted and given a bed. 5pm we were told they were going to watch and wait over next few days. 5:30 I left Oxford to be home for kids bed time. 7pm I arrive home, put kids to be and then get a call from Alex saying they had decided to slice it open and flush the area. Await further news. 10pm I get a call from Alex saying theyd now decided to put her on the emergency surgery list for a bone flap removal as they suspected it was the bone that was infected. Bear in mind this bone flap is the size of your palm and had been cut out 2.5yrs ago to reset the tumour. The skin has been sealed for 2.5yrs so not sure how the infection got in. So overnight she underwent an operation to remove the skull section and is now pretty drowsy, both from the trauma of having head surgery but also the anaesthetics etc. Waiting to see a doctor to find out more information as to what happens next. The summary I received from Alex last night was that they would keep her in Oxford for a week, before sending her home with antibiotics for 7-8 weeks. Thanks again for the support, its really very much appreciated. So in summary, the tumour is behaving but the bone flap wasn't so now she has an area of brain protected only by skin, not bone. In theory if it all heals well, they will fit her with a composite skull section.

Strange how it's taken so long to show up but at least it sounds as though they've picked it up before it possibly became more serious. Great news on the tumour and hope that Alex makes a steady recovery from this latest situation going forward. Sue and I really feel for you with all you are both having to cope with and send our best wishes to you all

Feels like we've taken a big step backwards :( Might not be tumour related but the surgery is fairly major having part of your skull removed. She's slept pretty much all day, been sick a couple of times, not a great day.

Best wishes to you both for a speedy recovery again.  One of my old man's chums has a metal plate in his head from 72 years ago, it doesn't appear to bother him much.

Haha cheers Andrew. Thankfully they've moved with the times and use composite plastics now... lighter  Just need to see what next few days/weeks bring now.

Glad to hear things are being sorted, hope she recovers well.

Another friend had that and had to wear a mountain bike helmet everywhere until he was better, which, although the situation was awful, did add some humorous memories of nights out with him

Thinking of you all.

Martin S and family.
