Crosspost from Facebook: I thought I'd better give you an update on Alex since the last one was a few days ago. Last night I had to come up to Oxford and she'd taken a turn for the worse, with possible infection which was causing her to be very sleepy and associated with the risk of having to remove the cranioplasty plate, things were not great. I stayed here until 10pm and had a conversation with her consultant. This morning I'm back to the hospital, working from her room and things have improved slightly with the use of Antibiotics etc. Still very weak this morning and very sleepy, but has managed to sit in a chair for a couple of hours this morning, which didn't seem possible last night. Thankyou to friends and family for the support, the school drop offs, the calls and messages, it all helps me which in turn means I can help Alex. Without the support from all around us, I really couldn't do this. I won't hide the fact that I've found it harder this time round, I feel like I'm constantly juggling, with things that are incredibly fragile, explosive and very important. Only with your help, am I able to maintain a normal healthy atmosphere for Sophie & Lauren. They are wonderful little girls who really shouldn't have to worry about how their mummy is poorly.

Please pass on our best wishes to Alex.
You were the first people Lauren and I ever met properly via the vx's and are both such great people.
Were all thinking of you here.

Call me a bad parent but were McDonalds for tea... still we are on the way home from visiting Alex do I think its allowed. Alex is much brighter today, the operation was completed at 3am this morning where they took out the plate 👎 and shunt. Fingers crossed now that the infection can be fought with the IV antibiotics. I fed Alex Lasagne before we left, so the fact shes eating food is a good sign even if shes not quite up to the coordination of feeding herself yet. Feeling a little more like things are heading back towards the right track. Still not quite there yet but definitely heading in right direction. Thanks for all your messages as ever and thank you for the offers of support.

This must all be agonising for you, impossible to put into words and always on your mind. Try and get some 'you' time, a blat in the car perhaps.
