So we're now a year and a month on from when all this started. It's been a tough year, VERY tough at times. We've had 2 scans in a row now (Jan and Oct) that showed no tumour regrowth, so for now the Chemotherapy (every 4weeks for 5days) is working at holding the tumour from growing. One day that chemo might stop working, or maybe (we can pray) the tumour will stop growing, who knows, but for now we are living for today. There have been times when Alex thought she wouldn't see the girls go to school (september), so that was pretty tough. Currently it looks like she'll be there to see them take their first steps into school and hopefully many more years after that. The support from here has been great, hence moving the thread out of Premium Discussion and into the wider audience. Hopefully, the message everyone can take from this is "Live for today, don't put things off!" Thanks again for your support!

Just read the thread from start, Quite a sobering read when reading it back, even for me and I wrote it!. What a year it's been!

Does put your own day to day stuff in to perspective. Really glad you've had some good news, don't think we've met but thoughts are with you. Sounds like we have kids a similar age which makes it even more terrifying to be honest.

When you think you've had a tough day / week / year, then you read this it really puts things into perspective.

I hope things improve and that Alex is around to keep you in check for many many years to come.

We're taking the kids to Helsinki this weekend. Why? Well why not :) life's too short, so we're taking a long weekend out. Alex had an MRI scan today, we find out the results next Wednesday after we get back. Fingers crossed it shows no growth, but who knows. Chemo has been continuing every 28days for 5days.

To be honest there's a lot of inspiration here Lee so I take my hat off to you mate. All I can do is wish you all the very best mate, and if I ever have anything crossed it'll be for you guys.

Agreed... though with a few others added to the list of people in my thoughts:

My brother in-law was diagnosed with Leukemia earlier this year, he has three young daughters and that I know that has been tough. Additionally through work I know of someone who died during labour whilst having twins.

In recent days various things have meant I have been reflecting so hard over my own life and how I have overly focussed on the negatives in recent years. It hasn't been an easy period, but by Christ it has been a comparable breeze. I need to grown up and be fcuking thankful for what I have.

Lee... You sir are a star and I am very grateful of knowing you.

Latest update from today's consultant visit. A lengthy report, but suffice to say "No Tumour Progression" is a good enough summary for me thumbsup So, that's 3 scans in a row now that we have had no tumour growth. Doesn't make the visits any easier, as you don't want to hope for good news and then get bashed by bad news etc. Thanks for your support, it's a bumpy ride but made easier by support from others.

And I was annoyed about someone hitting the car! I have huge respect for you and Alex because, although you do have to "just get on with it", that must be so hard on days leading up to consultant visits and test results. Keep on getting on with it and hopefully not only will it not get bigger but it will get smaller.

Hi Lee, I know what you're both going through. You go along in anticipation, told that things are all good and there is great relief. Then you quickly realise that the next 3 months to the next review starts. You just have to try and put it out of your mind.
