Ok, dull newbie question I know. I am assuming opcom is a diagnostic tool to pick up engine code errors, but I have some questions about it. What do you need? I assume you need a physical plug in unit which connects the car to a pc, and then software to display the codes. Where does it plug in? The is a multi plug in the passenger footwell, is this where it plugs in? Wheres the best place to buy and how much? I guess I would need software and reader, and are there different versions an types? Car would not start earlier, and it would have been good to plug it in to see any errors... Thanks, Mat

U480 obd scanner; simple stand alone (handy abroad) and cheap. It can read and clear the codes you have. http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=271298542958

OPCOM vauxhall maintenance tool; requires laptop plugin. Much more powerfull, and besides reading codes can be used to change car settings, program new keys etc. http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=400659377652

Scangauge II; on board computer device, that plugs in into obd. Usually mounted permanently in the car. Can monitor a lot of car info, and of course read/clear codes. http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=261385080723

List of codes:

http://www.speedster.../z22secodes.pdf http://www.auto-edit...z20letcodes.pdf

They all plug into the obd connector, which is dangeling under the middle of your dashborad.

You can also buy a bluetooth dongle that will talk to an android phone and report faultcodes I think ?

You can.

But if you need the power of OpCom, you have to get OpCom or take it to a dealership and get their Tech2 on the case.

Or a more expensive WiFi adapter if you use an i device.
