Eventful day of sorts;

Had a bit of a freshen up of some of the interior courtesy of Steve and Jess at Fulcher Coachtrimmers in Hethersett. Highly recommended and really pleased with their work.

Only small issue was getting there; car kept stalling on start up from cold, required a few revs to keep it alive until it was a little warmer. Fuelled up at Sainsbury’s and you’ve guessed it...turn key and nothing. No fuel pump, lights on the dash on but the dreaded whirrr. Had to do the push of shame away from the pumps and had a root around. Somehow managed to get it to fire and dropped it off to have the trim fitted. Long radio delete panel, top dash panels and binnacle all finished in alcantara; Exige logo embroidered a’la the original.

Car wouldn’t start later that day on pick up despite isolating the battery. Ended up starting it by leaving the trickle charger on it to give it enough crank. Seems the alternator is okay so I best buy another Odyssey 🙄

Nice bit of trim work👍

Have you tested the battery to make sure it’s not a bad earth issue?

Just checked to see the current running across it Paul to rule out the alternator. Seemed to be charging it okay.
All I’ve done so far....

I had a similar problem on the VX a few years ago. Turned out battery was ok & was charging but the gearbox earth point was dirty & slightly loose. Cleaned & tightened it up & that sorted it

Looking good with the Alcantara, how about doing the door panels in the same?

I bought some pre-trimmed with blue Alcantara on the previous 160 - looked great matching the seats and steering wheel.

I think that’s the plan Steve, will look at that further down the line.

How’s the 160?

Yeah, the only problem is with the window winder rubbing against it possibly - that alcantara looks thicker than the stuff covering the door cards I had.

The 160 is all good, got the MOT on Saturday and the only bad news was that it'd only covered 652 miles since the previous MOT!!  For the past few years it's only gone up by about 750-800 so yeah, proper GJOB.

Since last year it's got the Elisepart's braided brake lines, new clutch slave cylinder, new sill pads and new floor.  Toyed with the idea of selling it to get something with 6 cylinders, even put an ad up on seloc for a few weeks.

Doesn't look like it's a good time to sell at the moment though.  Most of the Elises, Exiges and Evoras (and some of the Pork I've been watching) which were being advertised months back on PH are still being advertised today, a few have dropped a couple of grand off the prices over the time but are still unsold.  Just as well I don't need to sell it, just fancied a change.
