Anyone got an android console?

I have a 360 and a wii but neither have been used to play games since aroung 2010! and the xbox was only used to watch DVD's after that  Got hacked off having to update it every 5 mins to watch a DVD so chucked the consoles in the loft and got a DVD player.

Now I've discovered the joy of NES/SNES/Mega Drive emulation on my phone and want to play them on my TV, This is good because there will be no game updates to do, fast loading and not overly intense attention required.

so has anyone got one and any recommendations etc?

Easiest way for the Megadrive stuff would be to dig out your 360 and get this

just use ur PC...... loads of emulators, thousands of roms, lots of choice of joy pad INCLUDING adaptors so you can actually use a SNES or n64 pad for example - you can even play online superbomberman with ur mates over the net! and it's free...................................

Dont have a pc/computer that would work for that purpose.

Dont want to drag the xbox back as its frankly a hideous eyesore, plus I want to play Nintendo stuff aswell as Sega stuff (and maybe emulate PSX for GT)

Might wait for the steam box though, but I fear the games are too indepth and 'modern' for my idea of gaming

Beauty of PC is it'll do everything............... gb, gba, nes, master system, snes, genesis, n64 - and cos those consoles were slow as anything pretty much any pc will do!

I finished the second greatest game of all time on both n64 and PC... and used an official controller on both! ;)

I have one of those little joysticks with all the old games on it (Asteroids, Donkey Kong etc).

I recommend that, if you are a chap of simple tastes.

I dont have a pc/computer that would do the job... ie its a netbook with no video out so its just capable of PCB layouts

Does your phone do usb otg, if so you can pipe your android screen to the tv via various methods (MHL to HDMI prob the best for this use) and use various console and third party controllers, keyboards and mice through usb otg.

HTC do a wireless dongle thing to connect your phone to your TV and i believe you could map a bluetooth controller such as a ps3 to your phone. It would mean a calibration for the emu app but it should be able to save the setting once paired. Think samsung did a dongle too for the none smart tvs. I used to play all my emu games on my Sony psp which could be paired to the ps3 and use that for the big screen but they tend to look shite as the resolution of the games are shite.

Thats the MHL dongle I mentioned. I found that using the games available for phones where possible was much better than the emu's because of the resolution, old SNES, MegaDrive etc res looks pretty bad on a big HD tv.

I would stick to a tablet, psp or laptop for emu of the old games. +psp has no on screen controls 4.5 hr battery - Uncomfortable in the hands without grip cover

No what I was refering to is you use the phone for proccesing only. With mine I just plug a console controller into the phone and play like a console, the re-hashes of old games available on android look much better than the emu games on the big screen, although they are limited ATM.
