did the cam cover get sandblasted before powder coating ?
if so throw it away

my mate destroyed his evo 10 engine this way a few weeks backdid the cam cover get sandblasted before powder coating ? if so throw it away

I made Techie throw his newly powder coated cam cover away a few years ago, he was not best pleased when I refused to fit it

grateful should suit your mood right now, that your brand new engine never had the chance to have a powder coated cam cover fitted
get a plastic cam cover

why would powder coating cause the engine to fail? bits breaking up from the underneath and falling into the engine?

thats bad news, whats the problem with a sand blasted cover? i assume it would be clean before coating and fitting?

if you remove the inner steel plate you will usually find a handful of grit after sandblasting, this kills the engine pretty quickly
I refuse to fit powder coated cam covers for that very reason, seen it happen before

open the cam cover up (drill or grind off the rivets) and have a look inside
