Just to confirm Matt I'll be removing oil cooler and manifold after work tonight. Will drop you a text to arrange collection/delivery of parts - Fri night might be better for me.

Looks like I'm going to need a good cam cover. :(

If anyone has one they are not using and is in a good clean conditon please let me know.

Alternatively I have a black plastic one but needs some of the bolts to hold it down,  (I am lead to believe these are longer than ones used on the alloy cam covers.)

So if no cam covers available anyone got some of these bolts up for grabs please left me know (I will find out how many I need when I get home)

If you're going new Saab why do you need a new cam cover?

You need to modify the saab cam cover to fit coilpack etc. I'm guessing, as Matt was going to use a shiny new painted cam cover, he's stuck with the vxl cam cover and had the engine built to suit this.

Thanks guys they look worse than the one took off! I've cleaned out my original cover the one that was one the engine before I swapped for powder coated one so should be fine. Just s bit concerned as getting a lot of sediment out and has some water and oil mixture. Cleaned out with about 5litres petrol buy pouring in galleries and swashing about. Going to give another clean through tomorrow. What are peoples view on this? Good idea or bad?

once the Saab head is modified so that a z22se cam cover fits it is quite difficult to use a Saab cam cover, part of the process is cutting off a section of the extra auxillary cam drive

Wasn't a fan of the plastic one and never really got it to seal properly. I guess that's why you ended up with it Matty.
