The latest sample confirmed the defect has been removed, payment has been made and production can start. Will be a slight pause in communications over the next couple of weeks as I move, but after then I'll be able to focus on this again.

Tom, when you say black paint, do you mean the black border where the lens sticks to the unit?

I think Fezz said a while back CE mark will be on a sticker.

The light units are what the CE marks are for not the plastic cover

Don't think you need any visible marking anyway. The OEM HID/bi-xenon lights on my Audi have no marks on the front covers, nor anything visible (from the outside at least) on the individual lamp units themselves. Even as a UK supplied car, I'm sure they'd be marked up to comply with the TÜV/EU requirements if they had to be.

Investigating this a bit more, most manufactures are content marking the rear of the casing with a sticker or molded into it.
