money was taken from my account, but I don't see any problem with that?  paid with Paypal.

Opt for the GoCardless payment option. That debits your bank account when the target is met, instead of straightaway.

Correct.

The mechanism changes depending on the payment system, GoCardless will not debit until the project go lives, Paypal does however Crowdfunder holds the money, they've handled over £1m in funding so far so i'm not concerned about them holding the funding for the interim. You also get the same distance seller and card protection you do with any other transaction.

I thought you said you were going to use kickstarter?

Kickstarter doesn't take your money until the target it met.

Crowdfunder takes your money immediately. That's not a pledge, it's a payment. Who holds the money? I'm guessing crowdfunder do, which makes me feel a little uneasy

I said it was using the same funding mechanism as Kickstarter, not that I was using kickstarter. As it's an American company and requires projects in certain catagories, I went with Crowdfunder because it offers more flexible projects and is UK based.

As I've detailed in my previous post, Crowdfunder does work via pledges, however the paypal payment mechanism doesn't allow for that so funding is held by Crowdfunder until the project either reaches the funding target and money is taken, or fails to reach and money is returned. GoCardless payment system does not take the money until the project is funded.

The problem with it is the stability of crowdfunder, if it goes under you lose your money. Also, I'm guessing paypal will keep your fees even if the project doesn't succeed.

On the other hand, GoCardless wants your address bank account number and sort code, which is more information than I'm willing to give out.

Think I'm gonna go with paypal. I'd rather just meet fez in a pub and give him cash in hand :)

I may be being naive...but isnt your money protected if you go through Paypal for scenarios like this?

My headlights have never really bothered me but I do think its important to look to the future and this project could be the difference between keeping a car on the road and out of a scrap yard. Good work and pledged thumbsup

Worthy cause as you never know what is just round the corner. Plus my lights look tired and have spiders inside.

My headlights are fine, but in the interests of keeping it and other VXs on the road, I've signed up - too many written off this year already.....

Because if you sign up for go cardless, you have to hand over your address, bank account number and sort code which is a huge no-no in my book.
