What do I have?

Arden Blue Vauxhall Astra VXR

2007

43,600 miles

About to go through MOT and will also be servicing as it didnt have any when i got it a year ago.

Still has one year left on the finance deal with approx £3600 left as the settlement figure.

Had 3 quotes done on my car coming in between £5750 - £6350

Good condition all round and only ran on Shell - nitrous plus fuel.

What do I Want?

Ideally Id like to part exchange for a 2005 or 2006 model VX220 Turbo.

Would prefer black colour but open to choices.

35,000 - 50,000 miles (dependent on car condition)

Finance deals only as i still have a years finance on my car.

2005 - no more than £12,500 and 2006 model no more than £13,500.

Please get in touch if you are a dealer and could store my details for future cars you may have.

Thank you

I'm going to go ahead and say the possibility of this happening is almost nil. There aren't any current dealers on the forum, and the number of '05 or '06 VXTs are minimal, the combination of the two means you're very unlikely that you'll get what you want.

My suggestion is to get a loan to cover the finance settlement and purchase of a new car, then you'll be in a position to look at buying from a much wider range of sellers.

I know its a long shot.

Been checking every few hours on pistonheads, autotrader and carandclassic and a few trade sellers have come up but they were 2003-2004 models with over 60k miles so didnt want to rush in for the sake of owning one.

It's not something I need right this moment so will just have to be patient as when I first looked into the car, there have been about 3 that I would have gone for straight away.

Was just more of a "If anyone knows" sort of request to accompany me in my hourly search ha.

Try getting in contact with Adrian Blyth as he was the only dealer who used to get some sort of supply of VX's on the forecourt.

Not to my knowledge, but dealer wise he's worth a call.

Why not pay off your finance and have it sitting on a loan or credit card then you can expand your search to private?

Can only get 9k on my credit card unfortunately and the bank would only offer me a 10k loan when I enquired.

Blyth is in Hindhead in Surrey. My car was from there originally. The owner before me said they were a good bunch. They deal in VXs and Lotus etc.

Have you tried Tesco? You're just asking to be hammered on APR limiting yourself to a finance company. They do occasionally show up at garages, mine was from trade but I think I just fell very lucky without realising.

Also, why 05/06 only? You do know the last cars were built earlier than that and just sat around?

Hey man,

I understand your position here as I've just done a similar thing to get my hands on a VX.

You'll find a lot of second hand car dealers offer a 'find my car' solution. If you speak to one local to you and tell them what you've got and what you're after they should look into it for you. If you're wanting to finance the car, you'll have a much better chance with a later model according to the dealer I spoke to.

Personally, I picked the one I wanted off Pistonheads (wbanixons from this forum to be precise) and asked the dealer to broker it for me. Obviously a dealer will only do this to make money so you will have to look at Glass' trade in price for yours and paying a markup on the Pistonheads purchase price, but if like me you're willing to pay for your impatience then it's a good route to go down. After a week with the VX I certainly do not regret it in the slightest!

Good luck :)

You know there are a few 07 plates lurking around to. Buy on condition and history rather than age and stick a private plate on if you're bothered about the image. :)
