The finance companies are less likely to offer it on a car over 10yrs that's the only reason I need an 04-06. I've seen a few 07's but they were top end of 16-17k and I can't really afford that much to be honest.

I now just need to find a good 2005 - 2006 model.

You know there are a few 07 plates lurking around to. Buy on condition and history rather than age and stick a private plate on if you're bothered about the image. :)

I'd listen to Dab-of-Oppo.

I looked at 3 or 4 cars when I bought mine. Ended up with a 28k miles '04 plate in great condition.

I think some of you are missing the point of me getting the car on finance....

Most companies won't finance a car over 10 years old, Hence me needing a 2004+

I am not looking to just dive in and grab the first one I see, I just have certain stipulations about what I can get due to the circumstances.

Or save up and wait until you can afford to pay for it outright like people always used to. (Novel concept I know) At least it will avoid paying a large percentage of interest on top of the purchase price just for the privilege of having it right now.

Apologies guys...I thought this area was for cars wanted, Didn't realise I'd come to the financial advisor area of the site :P

***Just to Clarify***

The original post was for a car wanted......the car I am looking for is simple.....A VX220 turbo 2004+.

Simple as that, No financial advice, no sarcastic comments about stretching myself because I don't have the cash to buy it out right. Just plain and simple comments or links to any VX220 Turbo cars for sale up to the value of £13500 and no older than a 2004 model.

Thanks

Thanks for the link mbes2. I came across that one a few days but a but out of my budget for a 2004. From when i first started looking the general ranges i came across were upto £12,000 for a 2004. £13,000 for a 2005 and £14,000 for a 2006 all based on a standard model and nothing too modified. Thanks again for the link though and thanks Luke for the heads up :)

Was about to say looks like a very well looked after example.

http://www.autotrade...vx220?logcode=p

Basically a stage 4. The bits+fitting for a stage 4 from CS will cost you £7k.

What's the difference in another turbo costing less to insure?

Because a standard turbo with no modifications would be 1100 to insure and the black autotrader model that is pretty much a stage 4 would cost me 4.5k to insure.

You're getting quoted by the wrong companies if the difference is that much. Pretty sure you should be able to get a more competitive quote than that on both a standard and modified car. What are you 23ish? What are you paying for the Astra? In my experience most specialists don't care what you do up to about 250BHP and then only charge a small percentage extra for bigger power.
