Regarding strapping the car down during the power run ....... The front wheels were chocked and carefully strapped down towards the rear of the car to prevent it from climbing forward out of the rollers (see picture at top). So no dramas. thumbsup

I'll have a word with Jon to see if he can strap them down at the back, they do need it really. Easiest way is to run a padded strap over the top of the clam and tie it down either side, shouldn't be too hard to add securing anchors to the sides on this set up. Any pictures on the cooling front?

I don't know about others but on this stage 2 @ Courtenays the car didn't move at all on the rollers, but your comment seems logical.

No specific piccys, however you can see the square box in front of the car, that was the blower. It did the job thumbsup

Courtenays are the tuning gods :D :D

They have been working on tuning this engine in Vauxhalls and particularly Astras etc for years, so they do know what they are doing :D

No argument there....Jon is a good bloke too thumbsup Mind you the fact we have the same engine doesn't mean that much, there are a World of diffrences in the ECU and the effect of heat etc. Glad Courtenay have a RR now though (although he needs more airflow ;) )

Acceleration chart and all calcs start @ 40mph :P , the black line is the new plot, red being the old reading before remap

I've yet to try my geotech to find out (roughly) what my 0-60 is.

I can tell you that the pulling power in the 40-100 range is awsome :o , big difference over the std, even with a miltek fitted :D

Just to set the record straight re tie down etc........... Yes this is the first time we have had a rolling road in house thumbsup , however we have used many rolling roads over the last 20 years, some good :D some not so good :o . By strapping the car from the front we are stopping the car from climbing forwards out of the rollers. We also chock the front wheels of the car. The main problem is traction (grip). This is an issue in big horse power cars. Also the type of roller pack installed has a bearing on this. Older rolling roads had the rollers set closer together as wheel sizes were smaller. With this set up cars with big horse power and new larger wheels (ie 17" +) can have grip problems as the larger diameter wheel will sit on top of the roller set rather than in it, thus making it easier for the wheels to spin and the car to climb out. We have had a number of owners express concern at strapping over the GRP body. To this end I have spoken to Roger Tovell @ Lotus about this and they have seen body breakage on high horse power development cars :( , which is why we have followed their lead. Further more they have used the cage as an anchor point back down rearwards to the floor, but again have seen body breakage. For big horse power cars they remove the undertrays and go the the chassis, though care needs to be taken as clearence is minimal, or the car is run with the clam off though not always convenient!

Does the marketing guy for Courtenay ever phone AMD and tell them how to run their dyno? This is all getting a bit silly if you ask me. Actually, it's a bit silly even if you don't ask me.

Spanner from what i can tell Thorney was only going to phone them in good faith.

Don't see the problem really.

Spanner, yet again I've missed your point? I can only go on what I know and that is that on the VX's a better consistent method of getting measurements out fo them (especially higher power ones) is by strapping the car down. It may not be the only method and I have no doubt Jon is happy with their method, a lot depends on how the road is set up and its positioning so what might be good for one might not be for another. I offered the advice as Jon has had a RR for approx 1 week rather than the 18 years AmD have and it was offered in good faith as a means to ensure everyone gets looked after. Jon and I share information all the time and I constantly refer business his way and vice versa, if we get along why is it you seem keen to constantly stir up something else? Get a life.
