Hi,

My handbrake stopped working a while back.

MOT is due next week so I popped the undertrays off with a view to adjusting it. I used the guides here to do it (two nuts on the cable just in front of the nearside wheel) but the best I can get is a weak handbrake engagement after 6 clicks.

I have a spare Eliseparts cable, but cannot see anything much wrong with this one so I didn't fit it.

The little handbrake lever moves back and forth quite nicely on the handbrake itself and I have the requisite 76mm of clearance the TIS asks for.

The caliper piston engages nicely on both sides with the footbrake, but I cannot see much movement at all when I move the little lever by hand.

Help - Please?

Steve

It's probably just stretched. Fit the new one and see how you get on thumbsup

I have got the same problem with my handbrake and found the right caliper hand brake lever is moving but not clamping the pads to the disc.

Got a spanner and pushed the lever the up the way and it seemed to click in to the correct position then tried the handbrake again and was ok for about 20mins then it lost the clamping again. So I think a new caliper is needed.
