So I've deccided to take it again, hell why not it's only been 4 times already what's a 5th....

I'm going to swap out the flywheel/Clutch Plate and Cover for my origional one to see if it's that causing the issues....

It's a bit extreme but the only way I can think of this isn't going to cost me anything...

So far have the undertrays off but not has time to do any more..

Also I will need a replacment Gearbox mount nut and bolt if anyone has one.. the long one that goes through the mount and bolts to the subframe as mine is fubar!

Jeeze dude, I feel your pain. Best of luck.

I have the TTV flywheel and std clutch. I have no strange sounds from the box just the normal light rattle when lifting off which I had with the std flywheel.

I have no noises from mine. I fitted a ttv flywheel from cs with new OEM bolts from vaux and the old clutch back on. Clutch plate drilled slightly. Then new slave from autovaux. Even if it's a common prob you've tried 2 and have a new engine so the clutch/flywheel must be it! Drive it as soon as you've put enough together to make it move just incase you have to take it off again!

Maybe its an "easy" way to do the swap, when I swapped to my LEH engine I left the gearbox in, didn't even loosen the gearbox mounts. With that said it should be possible to get enough access to swap the parts by just removing the pulleys for the alternator to get the space needed to move the engine and gearbox apart. Would be very nice to know if is possible, if you try it remember photos for a guide :)

right so pulled the engine and box again today lots of metallic partials in the oil which is worrying as only done 100 miles so after some discussion decided to install old gearbox and old flywheel clutch and cover. looks like number 5 is my lucky number as seems to have fixed it. Saying seems to as only done a couple of miles with roof off but doesn't make any nasty noises. Apart front a bit of noise when depressing clutch pedal sounds like slave engaging no too worried about this for now. Going to take gear back to builders and oil sample as not happy with what I have found. Full road test tomorrow will let you all know the outcome.

Metallic particles in the engine oil or the gearbox oil? Hope it's not from the new engine. :o

Matt do you remember about a year ago I took you and vocky out in my yellow sc to hear a rattling noise I had on overrun from gearbox area? Would you say that was similar to what you have been having?

Always had a slight rattle but it was much louder after I had ttv flywheel, helix clutch and new oem cover plate. And the noise did not change after changing the gearbox.

What colour were the particles? This is important. Having spent 10 hours today, stripping 3 gearboxes (gears and shifters etc off) to repair a quaife sccr gearbox, I know that gold particles are 'ok' and anything else is bad. Would love a go at tearing down an f23

I think i can join this club :angry2:

Brand new B207 conversion finished today.

TTV flywheel, Courtenay Fast Road (which is helix stuff)

First sounded ok, but once all warmed up, the mindbending grinding noise was all over the place.

Following this topic with close interest :ninja:

I feel your pain smiley. After a road test yesterday with my original gearbox back in place and standard flywheel and clutch noise has almost gone. Mine was a little noisy in the first place so I'm calling it fixed! Off to Bedford Autodrome today was too late to book a track day so going to see if I see if I can pay on the door.

So is it the fly wheels or clutch that is wrong. Some measurements against the std items should give an answer.

Unlikely to be the fly wheel as mine is fine the only difference between op is I have a paddle clutch rather than the cs uprated clutch
