Facny doing some surgery on the F23 you took off Matt?

Got to take it back to the builders first as I paid for a rebuild and think he should sort it out first. But if have no joy we can pull it apart.

Unlikely to be the fly wheel as mine is fine the only difference between op is I have a paddle clutch rather than the cs uprated clutch

At Croft I remember hearing yours chatter a little on idle in the pit garage but true I don't remember hearing any noises while driving.

I've never heard chills chatter or vibrate. Then again you can't hear fcuk all over that horrible whine, then there's the noise of the sc . . .

But I'm starting to worry that gear cables are not my only problems with all the talk of gearboxes on this site

I have one with a broken casing so you've welcome to have a look at.

I'm not about at the moment, but all you need to do is get a M8 bolt and if it's loose in the drilled holes then thats most likely the issue.

If the clutch cover is off centre then it will cause excess vibration and thus the gearbox input shaft will make a racket.

Any news on this?

Is it the holes in the pressureplate that is to big or is it the release bearing that makes contact when it should not or is it something else?

I believe my noise has become worse during summer.

Have taken gearbox back to builder and found nothing wrong inside. So not sure. I'm now on the lookout for a KNOWN good gearbox with low miles to fit NA. That way I know it's OK.... So it anyone has such, let me know!

I have done some more research about this and it seems that it happens to some when using a lightened flywheel.

Might be that the lighter wheel lets the pulses of the crank transfer into the gearbox more unfiltered.

If you look around you will for ex find a guy with a M3 having the same sound.

Yup that's the conclusion I am coming to. Over winter engine and flywheel being balanced just for precautions and may help.

It rattles and shunts with an oem flywheel too, so its not like its a special fault

I have had a quick read ref this topic, It seems all avenues have been examined and for what its worth, what's the clutch plate damper springs like ? week, worn, broken as this can cause a transmission to rattle as the dampening in the clutch as lost is efficiency. I don't know what engine arrangement you have but is the front crank pulley damper ok.
