Hello all,

I really thought this day would never come :-(. I need to sell the VX, times have rapidly changed and I am now moving into London. The GF got a job there and I am moving that way too.. Which means I need a sensible car, and I cannot afford a VX as well as a sensible car. So it is time to sell it.

So history of the car.  V5 shows 3 previous owners plus myself.  A genuine 28500miles, I bought the car when it had done 24500 on 8th May 2013 (very odd date timing :/, had car nearly exactly a year)

Hardtop included. Freshly resprayed too, so is mint. I will include this in sale :-)
Rear "VX220" diffuser
triple pass Pro Alloy radiator (6months old)
New brakes all round
New battery
New steering rack and track rod ends
New coilpack (one month ago)
New spark plugs (one month ago)
Fully carpeted
Upgraded sound system and speaker
Custom built 3" exhaust system
High flow Catalytic converter
Carbon turbo ears
Carbon rear arch liners
Black windscreen sunband
Carbon Wrapped rear spoiler
Black windscreen surround
Modified air induction for better breathing
80" Air flow meter
Courtenay alloy bottom pulley
Courtenay upgraded boost hoses (silicon)
Alloy intake pipe
Courtenay high flow plenum chamber
Alloy indicator stalks (although plastic ones fitted)
Upgraded headlight bulbs
Rear LED No plate lights
Stage 2 remap completed by turner race developments in Stroud
Car paint is in very good condition. It has had a recent respray done by Relentless Performance
Brand new header tank (bought today)
short/small front number plate
Quantum Zero Dampers with the Track Preference Progressive Spring. 500 miles old, not included.. but could be.. see below.
Freshly painted alloys in a lovely dark grey colour and newish tyres (about 3000 miles on them)

The car has been regularly services at Matthew Bentley Racing.

In 2011 the last owner replaced the engine at Turner Race Developments.  I have all the bills and receipts for the work done. He chose to completely replace the engine for peace of mind after a few niggly faults with the original one and at the same time had a few of the above replaced...notably the exhaust, clutch etc.

I have the service history stamped up from when the last owner bought the car with 4 service stamps including brake fluid changes, coolant changes etc.  This also comes with a VX220 manual and leather case.

In my ownership, I hit the front clam and got a cat c on the car, also the last owner got a cat d on the car in Nov 2007. I have all the paper work, from insurance and work carried out, to the last bolt. I broke the front clam. As we all know, once the clam is broken its pretty much a right off. I really fell in love with the car, and didnt want to be another VX loss. Also, it was only front end damage, so I knew it was repairable! I got in touch with Ash from Relentless Performance and got a brand new clam from Lotus Hard Tops (jonnyboy). I also at this time uprated the radiator as its a common fault, Pro Alloy. Ash took the front and rear clam off, so I was able to fully inspect the car, so if you have any additional questions you can ask Ashley (and Matt from Matthew Bentley Racing).

Since selling the car wasnt in the plan I have just bought Quantum Zero Dampers with the Track Preference Progressive Spring which have truly transformed the car. But since these are only 100 miles worn in, I would require an additional £800. They are currently fitted to the car, but will be removed if someone doesn't buy them with the car.

I am located in Cambridge. I am moving to London end of month, so I would like to try and sell asap.

I am after £9999 :-)

Thanks dude. Yeah I'm not enjoying selling it if I'm honest. It was the most enjoyable car I've ever owned.

hey dude,

Yeah thats the car. Last owner imported it (I got all the paperwork). That's the reason I took the rear clam off and did a proper inspection at Ashley's. Now with a complete fresh respray the car does look lovely.

Oh well. You should have kept it. They're a fantastic London car, had mine for about 4 years always on the street in central London.

the problem was I cannot afford to keep it. I have no allocated parking and I need a car to commute to work once a week. I also cannot afford a decent daily car and keep the VX. I'm not parking the VX on the road.

I bought a Golf MK6 GTI DSG 2010, 3 door red. Which is no VX, true. But its nice, daily car and its got some good go in it (260hp remap!). The main problem I had with owning the VX was, it was my daily. Okay, I do hardly any miles a year but nerveless, sometimes the VX gets tiresome.

There is no doubt that this VX has been the best car I have ever owned. Not just the forums, but the car is such a joy to drive. Everyday the VX puts a massive grin on my face. There is never going to be another car that will give me the memories I have with the VX. Its a shame I'm having to sell it, I was hoping to keep it for much longer.

It feels like I'm losing sometime special. Not looking forward to the feeling of seeing it go for the last time :(
