Great work. I read most of this last night, and finished this morning. Couple of questions, what glue did you use to stick the covering to the dash, and has it bubbled at all in the summer? Mine is already covered, which i like, but its bubbles in the heat, so thinking il carefully remove it, and put some more/better glue down. The central rib, and the starter hole are also not stuck at all, and that bugs me. Did you see any benefit from wrapping the manifold at all? I have a Piper one that came with the car, and painted it, but considering wrapping it now to keep the heat in, downside to that, is im not sure if it will just crack with so much heat being contained

I used a carpet adhesive I think, I'll have a look and see if I can find a link to it for you. I had removed the original vinyl stuff from the dash first so not sure if that helped at all. I've not noticed any bubbling since doing it but not really paid much attention to it tbh. I've only recently wrapped the manifold but since doing it I've noticed my temp doesn't rise above 89 when they used to rise quickly until the fan kicked in. Also because I was an idiot and didn't refit the heat shield foam stuff around the boot after the o angel it got burnt slightly and used to stink every time I went out in it, now no more issues with that :D I don't think stainless manifolds will have any issues with cracking will they?...

Not if properly made like yours no. Mine already had some cracks in it when i pulled it off, so got them rewelded. Does not bode well for the rest though, which is why im a little worried about containing more heat. Piper apparently had issues, so dont make them anymore. Was it difficult to get the central ridge and button area to stay down? Thats the 2 areas that really bug me.

Also, have you ever had any issues with the wishbones after powder coating, stone chips etc? In 2 minds if i should get them passivated, or powder coated or both

I issues originally before modding the dash with the centre line and starter button sticking down but since modding the dash vents and removing the original vinyl it stuck fine and hasn't lifted yet (touch wood)

with regards to powder coating, since having them done i've not driven it w hell of a lot tbh. probably around 500-1000miles max but it still looks like new. I must say though i do only drive it in the sun though, as its a third car.

well fingers crossed mine won't crack then  just have to wait and see what happens. But id rather take the risk and have it crack than have stupidly hot engine bay temps

The wide choice of colours for powder coating is what is appealing to me. Im aware that they can chip wtc, and rust can get under them, but thats why i was toying with getting the plating done first. Best of both worlds then, its just cost. Just wondering what people real world experience of just powder coating them was like, compared to plating only,or plating then poqder coating. What were your reasons for not going down the plating route?

I know what you mean. I mainly only went powder coating as it was the cheap  as it doesn't get used much and I polybushed it if the start getting crap again then I'll just get them redone. I'm not too worried about it atm. You watch they get chipped and start rusting no
