Few more pics to update this. got the front clam sat in place. The doors, boot and bonnet have been sprayed today. Also ordered a bolt kit that covers just about everything, some bigheads to fasten my turbo ears on. Along with some riv nut pliers and riv nuts. Tomorrow is the last day of my planned painting which will be the bits that im doing black.

So the good part...

If it looks as good in the flesh you could start a VX220 re-spray service.

TBH once I've finished my car I am planning to offer some form of service for painting and fibreglass work as I will be able to get a lot of materials for fibreglassing for free as I'm moving into a fibreglass job next month.

Looks brilliant I'll have to call in and see this when I'm passing again!

Yes mate, your more than welcome when ever your around this way. I will be bringing it up Sams mum and dads way when it's finished so will be popping round yours at some point on the way  just so you can see how much better it is than what it was

Very impressive indeed!!   I'm really hoping you painted the ears orange and not black

Thanks it has come out nice. Unfortunately for you I have left them black ATM. I still have enough orange and pearl left to do them but I'm going to see what they look like before I paint them. As would have to get more white and can't be bothered getting more just for them  if they look horrible I may paint them orange. I have held them up and they seem to break up the orange nicely, but will see if I can live with them or not.

Blimey Al, you don't hang around do you!

I go away for the weekend and come back to your car not just primered but with a 3 stage pearl! Looks fantastic, however we can now no longer meet up as your paint job is far FAR better than mine and I will just cry

Cannot wait for final pics of it all back together.

Cheers Matt! As I'm pretty much finished painting now and the car isn't taking every second of my life anymore I'll get you those grills cut out and sent up to you  cheers again for the bonnet

No once I had started I couldn't stop  fortunately the paint cured within 24 hours so was able to move it. It's not quite fully hardened on that time as I found out moving my hardtop and caught I and scratched it  The colour was my father in laws idea was going to go for a solid or metallic colour but once I looked into how to spray a pearl it was quite easy so went for it. I can definitely say that the Electric Orange suits the VX way more than a Ford!! Won have any pics of it all back together for a while got a few bits to get and I'm replacing every seal on the car and don't want to put them on too early and ruin the paint  Really want to just take it out and drive though!!!

No rush.  Not even ordered the carbon to make a bonnet yet so fitting grills is waaaaay off.

Yes new seals is a nice extra to do when you go to this much effort. I've done all mine as they had to come off to sort some leaks anyway, makes a world of difference when they are fitted correctly! No rush with the project, just think what you'll have at the end of it all.

Yh i had a few leaks aswell and as was doing full colour change thought would be best to remove them. Where did you get your seals from? Deroure?

Cheers mate appreciate all the kind comments regarding the car. The mrs is sick of the dining room and spare room being taken up by car parts. I will be getting the seals and other bits and bobs ordered soon so will hopefully start getting it all back together fairly soon. All I need to paint now is the inside of the doors and boot and bonnet and painting is done, holding off a bit to make sure the paint on top is fully cured as knowing my luck will end up with huge scratches in them.

Are you going to use protective film? I have used the self apply stuff on my front clam after replacement and the front has survived much better. I know you can respray again at any time but it would get tiresome.
