yes, but heat soak still happens, it would just take longer with the spacer on..    whats wrong with tapping the hole and putting a fitting in then mounting the map sensor away from the manifold.?

The problem with that chris the reading would be wrong, I would imagine it was put there to give the reading going into the head If your going to falsify the readings you may as we'll take it out completely

Hot day logging the other day
Posted Image

By looking at the box at the top my average is 48 degrees.

Toddling around the block without really using the Harrop will not raise the temps much above that.

You should repeat that log with some laps on a track and you will se the IAT crawling up to 80-90*C...

But I agree with Joe; we just have a serious cooling issue and better put our thinking in some creative thinking. :D

That log was not taking it easy, I was fast road driving in most of it other then slowing down for traffic or junctions. I had my scan gauge connected when on the track day at Croft and my inlet temps stayed around 60 degrees and below, not sure how accurate the scangauge is tho.

If you are gonna use air con uae it for the laminovas and you want need to mess around with a second rad

I wouldn't say no to Lees idea if it works. Would be nice to try it on the Dutch software with before and after graphs.

Scuffers has already mentioned that the laminovas could be taking out a 100 degrees from the air and the water isn't getting Luke warm

They are very effective but nowhere near as effective as a air con system. Laminovas is also a restriction. As the air can't pass through them quick enough the pressure before them is building up causing more heat

I remember that stage 1 without laminovas reach up to 100 degrees more or less. Not 170.

Lastly, saw a comment about the crank vent earlier, in a SC car the very last thing you want is to recirc crank venting into the engine, oil vapour has a terrible octane rating and will effectively de-octane your fuel charge significantly, seem a lot of engines pushed into det because of this.   catch tank and filter away from the intake is the go..

Wouldn't blocking it off also cause problems the vapours to destroy oil seals and push pistons? I'm not sure which way is best but it's a 6 and two 3s problem.

My thoughts are either making the laminovas sealed for a air con system or replacing the laminovas with a rad and air coning that. Failing that removing the laminovas and using a rad like less for air con. Problem is with this is it's not for everyone due to not fitting on standard car (or am I wrong and it does fit?)

Air con won't cool fast enough. Think how slow it is in the cabin, then pump sh*t loads of very very hot air through it, it's not gonna work. By all means try it, as I clearly haven't a clue about air con (cv item, calibrated hvac system in several vehicles)

In that case then Maybe extending the manifold to add 2 more laminovas But then have to avoid starter motor
