Apparently the chassis is modular so you can replace the front subframe after a crash..... So hopefully not as many will be written off. Did three demo rides at work yesterday and another three people came to chat about it. The vx never got anywhere near this level of attention and it's all a funny mix of curious and enthusiastic. And then there's people's face after you've taken them for a spin..... Even in my hands the car is sensational. I'm really enjoying it... Can you tell?

How does the steering feel compare to the non-assisted vx, have they cracked it or do you loose some feedback in comparison?

What price did you pay for a 60 plate with that mileage?

Sorry for the delays in replying!

I paid just under £33k for a 2010 10 plate with 30k miles on the clock from a lotus main dealer.  Not the cheapest about but the car was mint, new tyres, warranty etc etc.     Man maths says that the car can't drop much below 30k and europa, exige and elise prices seem to back that up.  (talking of which have you seen the price of 08 exiges lately?)

Steering is simply epic.  You wouldn't know it was power assisted.  Clearly it's not go kart vx / elise like but my s1 elise owning mate just swapped his Porsche 996 for an 60 plate evora and hasn't stopped raving about the steering yet.

I'm now 2 months in and i've done 2.5k miles and i'm still gobsmacked by how capable the car is.

Averaging a calculated 26mpg with a high of 29.9 and a low of 24.  My commute is a fast 80 mile round trip over A and B roads.  I could take the motorway and improve that average.....or not hit over a tonne on the way to work but i'm afraid i just can't do it.  I've tried but i can't.   Tyres look untouched so not as worried about wear as i was (some people have only seen 5k out of the back, others 10k)

Car has done everything i've asked of it, heater works, you can see out, it doesn't leak.  My gearbox is a bit grumbly and not the fastest shift ever but the dealer has checked it out and said it's within tolerances.  Just needs a careful hand.  Still haven't used the back seats for people but they are great for luggage. Mrs loves it and is happy if i say we're taking it on a long journey.

As i said my best mate was so impressed that he now has a graphite grey 2011 60 plate with CR box and sports exhaust.   Not driven it yet but from the outside it sounds a lot more purposeful.   A new zuast might be on the cards.   Will be interesting to see how his MPG is with the short box too.   Interior wise his car is slightly better fitted than mine but it's really not that noticeable until you compare the two cars back to back.  Wouldn't say you need to spend the money on a newer car unless you want to.   Mate says the same.

So in conclusion i love this car.  Properly properly love it.  Had to force myself to take the motorbike today as it's not been to work since i got the evora.    I really can't imagine what will replace it.....;

Glad you're still enjoying. It still the car I'd buy if I was in the market with ~£25-40k

Not sure if people are still interested but happy to keep updating this thread if people are.........

3k miles completed and i really really fcuking love this car.

Mpg is steadily climbing and is now sitting at 27mpg overall, with my last tank at 28.3.   Haven't broken 30mpg for a tank yet.   So slightly down on where i thought it would be but still pretty good for a 3.5 v6.

I'm using it as my only car, only taking the civic when the lotus is in the garage and i've got a short journey to do. Put simply it is doing everything i'd ask of a daily driver and it also happens to be a fantastic drive on a challenging road.  The only fault is that the camera doesn't like 1 hour plus drives in really heavy rain but when it dries out it's business as usual.  The support gas struts for the boot seem to struggle to keep it open when the car is cold but they work fine when the car is warm.  Oh and i think the tyre pressure sensors under read a bit.  Never failed to start, no strange warning lights, nada.

Boot is an unusual shape so it's quite big in terms of litres but none of our "cabin" style wheeled hard bags fit.  The small case i use for my trips to london fits fine but it's not really great for two people......so the hunt is on for some softer bags we can use.   At the moment the bags fit fine in the rear seats but id' like to keep them in the boot to give me more options.

In fact we're using it so much that the civic is now only being used for mrs donkey's 4 mile commute so it's getting punted for a fiat 500 twin air.  As i'm now on 33k miles i was humming and hawing about what to do over the winter, thinking about getting a shed to keep the miles off but i've now decided to worry about depreciation later and just keep using it.  With that in mind i've ordered a set of Yoko W drive winter tyres which will be getting fitted in Nov.

What could possible replace it ?

I'll always have a soft spot for the VX, but i didn't use the benefits enough to make up for the compromises.

I also suspect your fuel consumption will be rubbish ;)

In fairness as much as I love the VX, if I did not do track days it would be replaced by something German with out doubt!

32mpg to the first tank, haha!

You have still never brought it over for my shot! ;)
