Sorry if I have wound you up George. I wasn't meaning too. This is the first thread I felt I could participate in without risking an forum killing if I said something 'wrong'. That is also why I just tried to keep to the timesheet facts rather than my opinion.

well done,i am a simple builder and don't have the computer know how of how to look things up,but 1,33 set by a mid 70s Datsun 240z sort of tells you how sh*t the times set in ta were.

Well, actually, 240z's are pretty sorted cars, in their day they almost threatened the dominance of the lotus elans... (That said, its still 10 seconds down on the time i did last year...)

You are a god and we are all sh*t. Now that is cleared up can we get back on topic? With 250 BHP stage 2 you will be off the pace in Club RWD FI (unless you are a driving god). Having said that, you will still have a lot of fun so go for it.

Disagree... Take your car, what effect do you think losing 100 hp would make? You were doing 1:30 last year, and i think you will agree that you could better that now you know the place a bit better? So, what do you think losing 100hp would leave you at?

So what you are actually saying is experience is better than having more power. Which is obvious you just have to say it in a scuffers way  Problem is more power is cheaper and less time consuming than experience

The question here is not whether you, Dazza, Jimmy or I could compete in Club at 200BHP, the question is how the OP will get on. I think 100 BHP will make a huge difference as I ran 100 BHP down at Oulton so lets look at those times in comparison to club's results.

still had its st6 in it albeit on different carbs, the 205 that did a 1,35 was an 8 valver on throttlebodies,my point is these cars were setting club pro times,it just makes you realise how slow some of the ta drivers are

I don't think it would make much difference at all,i honestly think you would need a big leap in bhp to make a small decrease in lap times,i think too much power makes you lazy as a driver

OK, my bad. I was 2 seconds off the pace at Oulton last year when 100 BHP down but would have only managed 2nd in club class behind Amis. Came 4th in ClubPro.

Everything just gets too personal when you start throwing lap times around especially when quoting times that a certain driver or car can do without being aware that the car isn't running properly.

I get that. Was just trying to give an idea of different cars times. That was also my point about taking times roughly as day to day the same car and driver will produce a.different lap time.
